Ideas on fishing (doubt hunting at that time of the year) pretty much anywhere in Europe in April or May? Prefer freshwater fly fishing.

Any other ideas?

Well, I'll throw out the wildest idea first: you could hunt seal in Stockholm (Sweden) archipelago. Not importable of course. I've talked to one outfitter several times; let me know if you'd like contact details.

There is a roe deer season in part of Sweden opening May 1. Not so sure about an outfitter though.

Roe buck season opens April 1 in England. Trout fishing in England will be open in April also.

A combination with wild boar is possible in a few countries.

Capercaillie, Balkan chamois, wild boar in Bulgaria.

Winter hunt for Muskox in Greenland (April).

Beceite ibex and roe buck in Spain in the first week of April.

I can offer roe deer in the UK or Spain in May. I've just hunted with both operators and they are top notch. The Spanish operator may have the best roe in Europe. Roe can be combined with a chamois on a five day hunt.

All good Mark, I know you said may. It's pretty hard to say who has the best bucks these days.

Some parts of Spain have some great roe bucks. Your partner has certainly shoot some big bucks. But there are damn big bucks in many countries and roe buck are hunted in almost every European country. Many people think parts of Sweden or Hungary have the best bucks and best roe hunting.
The biggest bucks in the world were shoot in Sweden and England.

Btw. People dont realize how common roe bucks are in Europe. Only in Germany in the 2020/21 season 1.3mio roe deer were killed.

Fresh water fly fishing - I would look at the Lake District in the UK, some breathtaking scenery and wild browns in the high tarns! Plus there are plenty of lakes with rainbows (stocked) to mix up the days.

On the stalking side I would have to go with roe bucks as everyone mentioned and there is superb stalking in the UK took. John Robson in Yorkshire is worth looking at if he is not already fully booked.
