Any thoughts on a bolt action version of a 4 bore? Would that be the most powerful bolt action rifle? More powerful than the 950 JDJ by my estimation with modern loads. 2000 grains at 2600 for nominal 4 bore performance. Cartridge would be based on the 14.5x114 Russian round. Built on a 50 BMG bolt action.

It seems theoretically possible but a sporting exception would be wise. Just needs about 15k of development costs but would be effing epic if you could make it look sporting. Perhaps a single shot BMG bolt action would be a good test mule.

I wouldn't want to carry it, much less shoot it.

Boomie,
a .950 is "close enough" to a 4 bore - he has a 4 bore falling block as well - 300ft/lbs is beyond even my once epic tolerance for recoil.. and he took even more, with it on the table, one handed, just eating the full recoil ..
