I picked up a Lothar walther barrel from Jeffeosso (thanks jeff!). If I were a patient person, I would wait unti the 375 ruger came out, but I ain't, so I'm going to get it done in 375 taylor.

so here is an informal poll of sorts

Iron sights or no iron sights?

checker and jewel bolt handle? or is that too much like trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear?

The stock is a claro walnut and is going to have an African blackwood forend, so...

Matching grip cap or metal grip cap...

Opinions?

I always vote "yes" on iron sights. Even my .22s have them. The rest is all cosmetic so go with your own vision of what looks good.

I agree with WINK, no hunting rifle should ever be without good iron sights, and the scope in quality QD rings & mounts! thumb

It's always good to have a plan B, so yes to iron sights.

This is "eye candy" a personal choice.

Both can look nice if done right. "I" like the steel option.

Question: Why the 357 Taylor instead of the 376 Steyr? As factory (HS) brass is readily avalable.

bigger case, plus the donor is a 7mag so they use the same size brass. I guess I could always do a Dakota for that matter, if I wanted to muck with the bolt. I don't buy ammo much....I have more wildcats than not, so I tend to reload everything.

Thanks for all the input guys. If it doesn't turn out butt ugly, I'll post some pics when I git'er done.

you might be able to get a barrel chambered for the 375 ruger before ruger actually makes rifles for it ...maybe.

Or do it to the taylor then clean it up with the 375 ruger Big Grin.
