.375 H&H, .416 Remington, .458 Lott, or .470 Capstick would all work.

Anything with the standard magnum rim should work, and in that length of action you can throw in almost anything that is equal to a .375 H&H. Hell in a short tube swap out the barrel to a .458 Lott. Or than there's the .470 Capstick.
Or you can go full bore and go with a .22lr. Be careful though...it's gonna break your shoulder.

A STW on MKX required the magazine box to be extended to 3.6" My guess is they did most of it in the front and removed a good amount of the feed ramp and lower bolt locking area. This has been done for the 375 for years. If it were mine I'd lean to the lighter side like a 375 but I'm a belt and suspender type of guy.

As usual just my $.02

Not to hijack this thread but what cal of Ruger #1 could be an easy trans to 470 Capstick?

A 1-H in .375H&H or .458 Lott would be easy; just re-barrel. You could get away with reboring/rechambering the Lott, but I don't know if the .375H&H barrel has enough OD to leave sufficient wall thickness after a rebore.

For my money, I'd convert a #1 in .458 Win. Mag. (or Lott) to .450 Nitro Express. Years ago, Ross Seyfried had a #1-H in .458 Win. Mag. rebored and rechambered to .470 Nitro Express; he change the extractor to handle the rimmed round but that was about it. He did his usual fore-end hanger modification, of course.

A single-shot in one of the nostalgic Nitro Express rounds would be nice.

how vanilla or wild do you want to go?

The fattest on that rim and makes would be .500

the Lott is the most senseable choice but you already knew that I am sure...
