Who makes .585 and .620 bolt rifles reasonably? I'm looking for a .550 Express, .585 Belted Magnum or .600 OK.

Which actions can be used to build this class of rifle? CZ, Remington, Winchester????

The 550's creator is in Yuma, and I bet you could talk him into letting you try them out.

THe 585 Belted Magnum, aka 577 Boomstick, well, I think the reamer is in Idaho, with IdahoSharper shooter

The 600 OK's creator is in vegas, and might would let you shoot it as well.

Jim Brookman can certainly build you a 550 magnum or express, I can loan him the Express reamer, i think he only has the magnum reamer.

Ed Plumber can build you a 600OK on a CZ

The CZ 550 magnum is the best all around action to build these off, if you decide on 550 magnum. or Enfields if you want them built.

what Jeffe said, mostly. I do have the 550 Gibbs reamers here now, and a rifle up and shooting. I have the stock, barrel, and action sitting here waiting another week or so for the 577 BME (belted magnum express) reamers to arrive. It will almost replicate the 577 NE 3" for case capacity, and offer the classic 577 load of a 750gr bullet at 2050fps claimed velocity. It will also rival the numbers of the 585 Nyati and T-Rex cartridges if you are up to it. I own a CZ in 505 Gibbs, and my gunsmith took an Enfield in 505 Gibbs I had purchased and fit a 550 Gibbs barrel to it. I am shooting it now. I expect to be shooting the 577BME the week before Thanksgiving. My gunsmith will be able to take my rifle and do the work to enlarge the frame rails on a CZ 416 Rigby and open up the boltface to 505 dimensions properly, using my 505 as the pattern. Ditto for the Enfield. I prefer the 550/577 Gibbs, the 505 parent case has 200gr powder capacity, and pressures will be much lower when you approach top end loads. I believe with the Gibbs-based wildcats that your ability to withstand recoil will be the limiting factor in power levels.

The 577 BME is all I need (or want??). Duplicating the 577 Nitro was my goal.

Who can make a complete rifle in 577 BME?

My gunsmith will be building a couple on the CZ and Enfield actions. The CZ is a snap, buy one in 416 Rigby and put a 577BME barrel on it. My guy will ahve my CZ factory 505 Gibbs sitting in the rack as he does the others, so he will have exact measurements and a pattern to work from. Ditto with the Enfield conversion. I bought an Enfield (P-14) in 505 Gibbs, so he will work from it as well. He works pretty reasonable, and will track his time on the first one of each to see what the cost will be. You could buy Safari Kid's CZ 505 Gibbs (in the classifieds), and just be a week and a barrel away from shooting one. He will also be making a file&trim die and reloading dies as well.
Lots of options to look at.
