Our response to several queries here and elsewhere and after a few months of tinkering.

The .510" FN based on the .475" and .620" designs used successfully on all sorts of targets including Lion, Buff, and DPT's.

Bulk of the run is presold but have some extra for anyone wanting the ultimate .510" FN.

About 75% meplat on this brass FN?
That ought to do.

I am posting a photobucket copy of it.
Jay's link does squirrelly things for me too, sometimes can see,
sometimes no see.
Click on the icon for the photo and view in a separate window always works though.

Excellent looking bullet! Well I can bet the farm on this bullet! I promise and guarantee that it will out penetrate 100% straight line better than any .510 projectile I have on hand currently. I don't even have to test this one, I know what it is going to do! 70-75% meplat--Go big dog go! Burning through feet of test material!

I never squeezed it very hard, I am shooting 570s at 2300 and change. 600s at 2200 and change, and I think the 535s at a tad over 2300. It's a Ruger, weighs just under half ton, and of course won't feed nothing except round. Too Big, Too Long and too heavy to tote, so I have not put much effort in it. In fact, not even sure I like it very much to be honest. And I have looked all over the damn thing and I can't find Winchester on it anywhere, I even got the mag glass out and looked, still can't see Winchester on it. So it stays in the rack and don't see the light too much.

2300 should be tasty. We pushed the .505's x 550 grain over 2600. No real upper limit that we've seen thus far. Maybe you have a BMG to test these so we can get closer to the edge. We aren't allowed to own such devices here in Kaliforniastan.

If you send, I will hang with 2300 or so, are the 570 or 535?? Or something else? At any rate, we can sort them out. Will leave the higher velocity to you.

Yep, yep, will load them in a 50 BMG and a 500 Mbogo.
Will test in the IWBB and STAB and shoot some critters with this bullet whenever I can get around to it ...
In the 50 BMG at 3000 fps this should define the "Outer Limits" of "sporting" and whether the brass alloy can withstand the stress at that velocity in 50-cal and an optimum "driving" SD of .294 Big Grin

Someone else will have to try them in a 500 Jeffery and a 500 NE.

I will get rigged up with the 50 AK and see how we do at lower velocity, I am quite sure they are going to do very well. Try and get that done soon, along with other stuff. Might be pushing things this week however.

I can not wait to get mine loaded for the 500 Jeff.

The Jeff will be loaded every day loaded with them while working as a field and trails guide around the Kruger National Park.

I hope to never have to use the Jeff to kill an animal charging while walking with clients on trail.

But when it does happen I will be confident in the fact that the bullets will get the job done...

Well, if you could take the "Client" part out of the equation I always went the other way, please charge! LOL. Well maybe not "Charge" but just give me an excuse eh? Need to test those bullets on something? Well, the test is done, there is no doubt as to what they will do, drive deep, drive straight, and get to where you need them! That is what they will do!

HEH, going to the great white north next week for muskox, I am told there is a chance we could have an issue with a polar bear, I could be so lucky eh? I promise I would not provoke, not too much anyway! Do you think laying down thrashing around like a wounded seal would be provoking? I would just say I had a belly ache, was not my fault!

That is a fine looking bullet! They make those cartridges look pretty good! I bet one of those in .500 caliber would make the 50 B&M and the 500 MDM look much better than these two?

I must ask a question of you. I don't have a double, and most likely never will unless of course Winchester goes to making double rifles! But the other day there was some question about "double safe bullets". I thought that your "banding design" might be double safe, and I thought somewhere I had read, you had said, someone had said that because of the design these were double safe????

What I know about doubles you can put on the end of a pencil lead, so just for my future reference on the bullet itself.

Thanks
Michael

They have been used in doubles to great effect with no issues reported. I think the answer is here in your data ... surface area ours -vs- traditional "Double Bullet" ... which would you use??

Was thinking about making a small comment here, but I don't want to start a pissing match or anything. May I ask what the engraving pressure is on your bullets? Have you tried the test I proposed? Hope you don't take any of this as implying something or trying to start anything. Just wanted to know. I would also like to include some of your bullets in the tests I will be doing shortly, so will contact you soon for some 400 and 500 grain .458's.
