The factory stocks as found on the Ruger RSM's are very satisfactory to me. Overall rifle is on the heavy side, but the design of the stock is pretty much classic in style and perfomance for a big bore.

I know my AHR stock on my 600 is absolutely THE most comfortable I have ever shot on a truly big bore

I think weight, recoil reducing pads/reducers, shooting style and custom fit have a lot to do with it from what I gather. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

I prefer the lines of the old English rifles myself. Teh AHR as pictured is pretty close to that look...It works for me. I don't like to get a stock too straight as many profess as it drives the stock straight back IMO..I prefer a bit more drop and try to divide the upward motion with the backward motion, in other words split up the recoil..The English gun does this pretty well..My Jack Hogue rifles also does this very well and I can use either irons or scopt with these guns. 600, What is the barrel length/contour and total weight on your AHR 600 OK? Is that muzzle brake really necessary with that bull barrel and does it work well? I think I am going that way with my MRC PH action. Woody

Definitely N. E. Anderstock from Feldhofer in Germany.....a little clubby but sturdy. Model #4012-008 is the best.

For me the AHR style stocks work the best for me from 416 Rigby up to 600 OK. Mitigates the felt recoil and seems to limit muzzle rise even when loaded near max. Dak

Ditto. Hard to imagine a better stock for big bores than the AHR design. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Shootaway, I wish I were better at describing stock shapes than I am, but I'm not a stockmaker of course. But, take a look a pictures of Ruger stocks and you will see that the grip appears to be less open, the forend follows a straighter line from the floorplate and the drop at comb doesn't look the same either. 600 Overkills's quarter rib may be the reason you see such a resemblance. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.
