Hey Guys,

Has anyone heard any news about when Remington (Spartan) will have it's 45-70 on the shelf?

I can't wait to get my hands on one! Unfortunately, I have to wait to get my hands on one...

Thanks,

Smoker

All we need now is for Clint Eastwood to make a movie using a Spartan S&S and we will never get one!

A stupid question, but hey, can you pull both triggers at the same time? Think about it, an equivalent to a .916 diameter, 805 - 1000 grn. bullet.

That's what it's for isn't it? When in a bind one pulls both triggers!

The diameter doubled does not work out the same but I get your point.

I had a 20 ga jap o/u go off double once. Ouch.

I saw both barrels of a Baikal 20 gau O/U go off at the same time ( single select trigger) .
We were able to repeat this by placing the barrel selector in the middle ( with primed cases).
The pheasant was prechewed .

I had my .450 No2 NE double discharge twice in a row on me - 2170 fps, 960 grains of bullet . Didn't really feel a thing, except I had to take a step backwards the first time.

I wouldn't do it on purpose though as the rifle can shoot loose and also the barrels are not designed for two bullets whipping down them at almost the same time.

A friend of mine has one of those double barrel rifles in 30/06 on order. It should be interesting to see how this rifle shoots. I don't think both bullets will go to 100 yds. If they do it will suprise me.

That reminds me of a spanish made double 12 I had a long time ago. I picked it up for the 3" chambers with 2 triggers. I was handloading at the time and at least 3 times did it let both barrels go at the same time, once with 3" magnums with 1 7/8 oz of lead in both barrels. I would fine both barrels with spent shells, I kept thinking I was emptying the wrong barrel since the gun did not have ejectors. I accounted for the haevy recoil as my lack of concentration with powder charging. I finally figure it out one day pheasant hunting when we had seen a couple of birds running out in front of us, I openned the barrells up to make sure I had two loaded shells, then boom to the second degree and when I went to reload is when I noticed the double spent shells. Turns out when I would shoot the modified barrel first as I would in most instances no problem the gun would function fine. The problem would occur when I would use the full barrel first.. the recoil or vibration in the gun would in turn let the modified barrel fire. The gun went to the gunsmith who blamed it on poor stock fit to the receiver.
the double pheasant loads weren't that bad but did I get a swelling on my finger from the double 1 7/8 oz loads when the trigger guard smacked it

I'm pretty sure both bullets will go 100 yds. The hope is that they go the same direction Smiler

JRO,
the baikal was designed as a do it yourself regulation, with some cam'ed screw mechanism... and the loads.

i'll be having one in 45/70, and frankly be happy with whatever it shoots... if i get 1800 with rem 405's, well, it's a keeper

I got a cheap 12 ga. "coach gun" in a trade a few years ago. It would double every time if you fired the left barrel first.

It weighed about 6 pounds with 18 or 20 inch barrels and a hard plastic butt plate. I called it "that nasty little ba####d"

Quickly found some other deserving soul to own it.

Thanks When my friend gets the double 06 it will probably have papers with it. If it doesn't well then I'll know.
