Rob the 600 overkill made NJ list of possible banned guns

** Included at the bottom of this email is a partial list of banned guns **

The Judiciary Committee will meet Thursday morning and could put into motion an effort to ban certain firearms that you own.

Touted as a ban on .50 caliber and larger firearms, A2116 assaults New Jersey sportsmen by banning dozens of models of popular hunting guns, including traditional .50 caliber muzzle loaders with synthetic stocks, fiber optic sights, or scopes in lieu of sights. Such guns with sights not actually made of iron are also in question due to A2116’s unclear wording.

A2116, sponsored by Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-15), also bans hundreds of historical American firearms and replicas, including those from the Revolutionary War and Civil War eras. A2116 is a slap in the face to collectors, historians, and the patriots who used these firearms to win the very freedoms this legislation now seeks to take away.

A2116 also wrongly demonizes the .50 BMG rifle, which is not used in criminal activity, but which is regularly used by law-abiding citizens for precision target shooting, competition, and collection. The legislation makes the fundamental mistake of banning guns based on the size of the barrel rather than punishing criminal behavior.

Please contact the members of the Assembly Judiciary Committee IMMEDIATELY by email, phone, and/or fax and respectfully urge them to OPPOSE A2116!

PARTIAL LIST OF GUNS BANNED BY A2116

Traditional Muzzleloaders Banned by A2116
A2116 bans all traditional muzzle loading rifles with synthetic stocks or fiber optic sights – the most common, popular, and safe traditional muzzle loaders currently used for hunting by New Jersey sportsmen. A partial list of popular muzzle loaders that would be banned by A2116 follows:

Buckskinner flintlock Carbine (.50)

A2116 may also ban hundreds of other traditional muzzle loaders whose sights are not actually made of iron, or which contain a scope in lieu of iron or peep sights.
Because A2116 redefines many hunting firearms as “destructive devices,†the legislation prevents the heirs of those who currently own these firearms from inheriting them as family heirlooms.

Modern Guns Banned by A2116
In addition to banning many traditional muzzle loading rifles, historical firearms, and the .50 BMG, A2116 would ban many modern firearms, including the following partial list:

Examples of Banned Modern Hunting Rifles Under A2116

Historical Firearms, Antiques and Replicas Banned by A2116
A2116 bans hundreds of historical firearms, antiques and replicas. Though proponents of A2116 claim that the legislation targets only the .50 bmg rifle, this legislation is in reality a sweeping gun ban that would criminalize the possession, transfer, and inheritance of dozens of firearms other than the .50 bmg and the hunting guns mentioned above, including many collectible Revolutionary War through post-Civil War era firearms and replicas and antiques that are not even remotely similar to the .50 bmg.
Following is a partial list of collectible historical firearms, antiques and replicas that would be banned by A2116. It is ironic that many of these firearms were used by early American patriots to win the very freedoms that A2116 seeks to take away:

The problem with these Little Monkey States Like New Joyzee and Louisiana where I'm from is that there is no one with an IQ over 95 in charge of anything. Until we get busy and take our government back from these cognitively challenged Queens, we will be subject to their estrogen driven histrionic whims.

So start by running for a local office and move up from there. Look at the Ghetto Monkey Obama...a thug from the hood, a bastard, the devil incarnate....he's running for the highest office in the land. Roll Eyes

What a pathetic condition....

They (probably) included it because they're to stupid to know that it's a .465 bullet in a necked down (IIRC) 500 Nitro case. IOW the way the Brits put the parent case first and the caliber second messed with their little minds.

The list was made up by someone on another forum who interpreted the proposed effects.

That is not a list furnished by the Bill's Sponsor. The bill does not list specific cartridges over 50 it refers to ALL cartridges at or over 50.

And here in Norway its banned to apply for license on pistols above 45 cal, only exception is black powder guns now, and license application on rifles above .458 cal must be appoved by either the Police Directorate or the Justice department if you doesnt have a clerk that handles it wel land and approves the license.

Its getting tougher to have big guns here and the Police direcorate, our FBI that is the boss of the weapon license officers, says it to much bog bore guns here, to easy for the criminals to " use them" .

That is god to know but you will have to stay in your state Wink Dand that is a tough one, thay got some nice bears in NJ right?
I know that the US is BIG but laws like gunlaws and other laws that might have a conflict with constitutional rights should be national and not stat regulated. IMHO.

When ever i meet Americans they always tell me how much freedom they have in the US and then ater we compare rights they dont feel so priviledged. Wink
This law proposal seemd like a law of poor quality with very little background knowledge behind it! IMHO

André

I know you have a more loose law especially when it comes to hand guns.
That is just the thing, their are proberly beeing comited more crimes with hand guns then with BIG bore rifles Smiler
Regulating big bore sporting rifles and banning Traditional Muzzleloaders seems strange when getting a .45 handgun is still possible.

André

Ah, see you're expecting logic from a Socialist/Communist, who's ALSO a politician -- rational thought and statism are mutually impossible -- something to do w. that Heisenberg fellow, I think...

Same reason why pieces of tool steel get blamed for the first recorded crime, which I believe was committed w. a stick... (The Bible records God as considerably more angry w. Cain than w. the stick...)

I wish Rob were wrong, but as usual, he is right on target. I just finished sending another email to Speaker Stender and will follow that with letters.

I never run from a fight and not about to do so with this one. Moving is not an option for me at this time in my life and there is no way I am relinquishing any of my firearms - all purchased legally and brought to NJ in same fashion.

Ridiculous

Obviously a proposal written by an ignorant fool. But typlical of the stuff dreamed up by such ilk. There is never enough critical need to constructively occupy the lunatic fringe we insist on electing to public office..... but some locales semm to have more than their share!!

Paul- I feel for you having to live there and have such a love of big bores. Soon you won't have a pellet gun. Yes there is truth in the fact that the problem lies with us. We elect morons to public office and then wonder why they are true to their genetics. Morons breed Morons. We need look no further than our presidential candidates to establish that fact.-Rob

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012
