As promised when the new Dakota in .404 Jeffery showed up I took her out to the range and wrung her out a bit.

Here are the specs

Dakota M-76 African in .404 Jeffery.
Weight 8lbs 11ounces dry.
LOP 14.25†over the pad.
Barrel length 24â€.
Magazine Capacity 4+1.
Muzzle diameter .71†, forward of the forend .825†and forward of the chamber bulge .90â€
One fixed shallow V rear with a front bead and an optional pop up night sight.
She feeds and functions slicker than owl crap on a wet rock.
I am very pleased with this rifle over all.
The group shown was with iron sights at 50yards , the load was Norma brass, a 400 grain Barnes TSX behind 73.5 Grains of IMR4320 using Federal 215 primers. I was getting right at 2280 Fps with this load.

The group measures 1.67†with the one “flyer†included. It appears that she is more than just a pretty face!

Pictures are a little dark, but the wood looks very nice. Congratulations on such a good looking rifle. It looks to be a fine shooter too.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
I am really glad I snagged this rifle as I've wanted a nice .404 for a long time. And this one is everything I could have hoped for.

Now I just have to pay for it. Stand by for some rifles for sale. Coming to an ARBAY site near you real soon. Smiler

rdelius,

I am sure that my wife would appreciate if you'd snap these things up a little quicker in the future. Wink

Euro,

The price really depends on many factors such as wood quality, options, etc..

But this will give an idea

I bought mine used so it was somewhat less than the new prices listed above.

Jorge,

Sorry about your troubles with...Ole whats his face. Thank you for the compliment on the rifle. I am completely satisfied with it.

I think the 404 is a very accurate Round. These were at 100 yds, iron sights, off-hand (no bench or sticks), 400 gr woodleigh softs. I fired 8 rounds in about 60 secs. Its a safari classic rifle.
