Okay, ya'all be patient with me for a minute as I haven't been following all the various threads completely. The 416AR has my attention. Let me see if I got this figured out...

1). It's made from RUM brass (shortened)

2). We're talking a bit more capacity/horsepower than a 416 Taylor...ballistics ~comparable to a 416 Rem Mag

3). This all fits into a standard length M98 without modification except for opening up the bolt face, maybe a tad of rail massaging.

4) Dies are available for less than a rectal tonsilectomy

5). I can send one of you my action and for an appropriate price you will send me back a so barreled action.

Am I tracking so far?

yep

yep - about the same case capacity as the rem due to wider brass

not exactly.. will fit in a 264/7/300/338 mag action... the mauser action (assuming milsurp) will require more work

4) Dies are available for less than a rectal tonsilectomy
yep

5). I can send one of you my action and for an appropriate price you will send me back a so barreled action.
after up,send to pacnor and they will do it for a reasonable price and offer bluing
Am I tracking so far?

Nice work, guys. Cool

Does the OCL ( overall cartridge length ) fall within the parameters of most of the actions mentioned in the other threads?

Is there, or could we compile, a list of the actions and the acceptable OCL of each?

Since 3 different bullet diameters are being discussed in this thread, I'm wondering how the OCL will be affected by the different projectile weights and profiles.

Hi Jeff,
I sure like the look of the 416. I have a Taylor but with the extra case capacity of the AR416 it may just make it that little bit better. My Taylor is loaded with 350 Swift A-Frames at 2520 fps but an increase to 2600 would be nice. Lets see how it all work out.
Take good care,
Dave

I like the 470.

But I do have a 458 win already. That 458 AR would rechamber nicely in a 458 win wouldn't it?

470 Mbogo,

I'm with you bud...

I can envision having my Taylor redone into the 416AR. Will the reamer clean up a Taylor chamber, so we can use the same .416 barrel?

Busmaster,
the 7rem, 300 win, 338, 458 win all load to 3.34 factory (well, perhaps the 7 doesn't load that deep, but it DOES have the same magizine).. so 3.35 should be a walk in the park.. the one gun i would be worried about is the browning abolt with a magizine.. they tend to be a little length critical.

Will it clean up a 416 taylor or 458 win... or even a 375 taylor?
roflmao roflmao

Yes, fellas, it certainly will .. In fact, I think this is a great "answer" for the cheap adams and bennet "question"... By reamer specs, it will 100% recut the chamber, and create a new throat.
