Well, Good news, bad news. Bad news is the company that was making our Firing pins went out of business and the company that bought the assets can't find what they did with them or my tooling that I paid for to make them. So..it looks like the attorney will have to change from trying to get my parts to just getting the money back...which let's be honest I have a snowballs chance in hell of getting anything back on that.

The good news is that I have two companies that have quoted me on them and one of them should be sending me first article soon and I have a third (thanks Rusty) that is looking at prints to quote me on those as well as a couple other parts I'll need before long.

Keep your fingers crossed (and a little prayer would be nice) this all goes well and we can start getting some more PH's out.

I will try to keep you informed as we go along but if I don't get on here soon enough I am sure one or 60 of you will call and let me know.
Thanks Guys!
Jeff

One small step for Jeff, one tremendous leap for mankind...

You gentlemen all recognize me as somewhat of a manure displacer. I'd say $hit disturber, but that has such a coarse, unpleasant connotation.

I have been on the phone with Wayne Jacobson of AHR, and with Jeff at MRC this week. A couple times each. We have worked out a deal, to move getting rifles built moving forward once the actions ship.

1. As I mentioned, Fritz454 sold me a .600OK blank and one of his brakes.
2. I am having Wayne do the rifle for me. He is anxious to get an action in so he can get a stock inletted for his master.
3. Jeff is busting his A$$ to get these actions out to us. He is going to send my first one (of two) down to Wayne so that it can have a
barrel fit, chambered and headspaced; as well as get the stock done.
4. Wayne has agreed to expedite the work to aid in the project, AND; to be able to offer rifles on the action asap.

The barrel is heading up to Wayne in the morning. Jeff is sending my action over. We will have a PH .600OK shortly for you all to drool over.
Wayne & Jeff will be selling 8x10 glossy color autographed photos by Christmas.

Rich
smiling...

One more thing: we are going to cut the barrel at 26" or so inches and Wayne has graciously offered to let me shoot it and then cut the barrel in 2" increments to see what the velocity loss might be. Sadly, he is not willing to rethread the barrel each time so a brake can be fitted for the testing. your prayers and best wishes will be appreciated.

Rich, will you be able to do a double or staggered magazine for the .600 Overkill in the "PH" action? Action should be large enough, courious how the feeding and mag well will be set up.

I wonder if the PH bolt is fat enough to allow a redesign of the 600ok. That is too replace the rebate with full size rim. I have been assuming the CZ550 were all single stack, 2 down, to avoid rebated rim feeding issues. Or No? It seems the CZ550 in either of the big 50's holds 4 down. I also been assuming Ed 585 would be 3 or 4 down in a CZ.

The 600 OK will do staggered as my 585HE does.
Or you can do single stack.
The PH bolt face plenty big enough for that
as I put my 700H in the one here. In a
few days have second one I bought from another
so as to have 585 and 700 side by side.
I have my own extra firing pin I built and
set into extra cocking piece I bought.Ed

I just read through this web site specifically paying attention to

the PH Action section. http://www.montanarifleco.com/ You wrote

about wanting 500 right hand orders for the PH Action to reach the

profit point. Do you have 500 orders?

Is this action going to be a better choice to build a 600 OK, five

shot rifle on compared to a CZ 550?

simple, you want to sell it, I will buy it. PM me with your asking price and real name. I will call Jeff about two minutes after they open tomorrow morning and confirm that. Then I will "cat" over to my bank and get a bank draft issued to you.

B5J,

check out AHR tomorrow morning, give Wayne a call. If he has the MRC PH action in hand he can give you all the information you would need to make your choice. Since he builds .600OH's on the CZ he would be the only one to say for sure. He posted here he thought we would be shooting mine for St Patrick's Day. Very shortly thereafter he could be working on yours, either action choice.

You will be able to kill anything that walks or crawls twice! BOOM

Then the under50 is just insurance in case of a future ban. So I suggest you forget the ban and just figure you have 2 guns to re barrel instead of one. IMHO

For 5 down, there are some other choices in 550 and more in 577. The 550 mag is based on common weatherby brass, while the best of the 577s maybe a while yet for over the counter belted straight brass. But those might handle, 5 down, I would think. Four no sweat. And if not the 600 is out of question. The 600 is also rebated if that matters to you. The rebate is not needed on the PH, but thats how it is now. It might complicate feeding in a staggered magazine, if hunting were planned. The 585 HE is a real sweet design if you are open to 750 grain bullets same as available for the 577NE. Again not sure of the brass, Ed has some ready to go, I think. and reamers. I belive all the 600's talked about on this forum have muzzle breaks, while at least some of the 577/585 were just built heavy or loaded down to elephant hunting power levels.

This will be very interesting time to be following the AR. Exciting things are happening, or about to... popcorn

The 585 HE has won me over. I am sending Ed my 577BME to be converted. With dies and head stamped brass it is a no-brainer.
I'll report back in about two weeks.

Looking forward to the .585HE report!

I tore my rotator cuff last month and haven't been able to run my Big6 much past 1800w/900grainers. I'm debating between a .500A2 or something bigger for my PH on order, you know, something that doesn't kick so much nilly

I have deal setup with steel stamps and a guide to
headstamp my 585HE long cases I made from the
bunch of GMA marked ones I found. Enough to get
a bunch of guys going. If anybody finds more GMA
3.25" basic cases reasonable, then I'll get them and make
a few more of my 585HE, while I'm doing financing
for a big run of 10,000 at Jamison. And hopefully more.
The GMA marked case is still a Nyati basic case size.
I have my case supply solved for the 585 Short HE,
and I headstamp them also..

I have put 585HE in Rugers, Enfields, MRC PH, NEF,
BBK Ultramag. And later in the 1887 WIN lever and
a Greener Martini. And very soon in a surprise
rare gun that will really be neat. The extra PH coming
will mean I don't have to switch barrels with my 700H.Ed

Maybe this will become a std AHR offering in the future. PH actions with some choices of caliber?
