They have come, about 2 months ago, and gone, sold out,
at
www.whittakerguns.com
IIRC, sold for about $750.
.416 Ruger there is $780 ($799.99)
I am sure they will get more.
They are selling "like hotcakes."
They are pretty neat.
But, hey, this is the "Big Bore" RIFLE forum.
I think of the 45-70 Govt. as a revolver cartridge. Wink

As a tool for an alaskan giude, I agree that is a cool rifle.
It has excelent sights and the ability to add a scout scope on a rail where you can probably remove it, reinstall it and still be sighted in is cool as hell.
The big lever is great if you have gloves on
and the extra long magazine is a great idea.
If they give me one with a blue or black tefflon finish and put a cartridge trap in the stock I would be giddy over it.
Also I hope you can remove the rail without taking off the rear sight...tj3006

About $750 is as close as I can remember, certainly under $800.
Call them and ask what it is to the penny, tomorrow: 9AM to 6PM CST, closed on Sunday,
270-229-0140
If they don't have one in stock they can usually get one in 3 days.

Any new gun is 10% over dealer wholesale there.
Hard to beat.
The real money is made on ammo and accessories, and trades.

Just needs a kevlar stock with more of a straight American profile. Shed about 1.5 lbs. Maybe a "Canoe paddle" design BOOM

I've got two unported Guide Guns and really like them as shorty rifles for hunting the thick stuff.

If you think about it, in days of yore people took the original 1895 rifle to a gunsmith, spent big $ and had it cut down into a shorty. Marlin figured that they could make the Guide Gun and cut out the middle man.

With the new rifle they've taken most of the common upgrades people put on the old Guide Gun and added them to the new Guide Gun so you don't have to.

Maybe we have one American company that actually pays attention to what consumers want?

Get one of these and have it worked into a 510 Kodiak express. That would be a real thumper with 5000 ft.lbs of energy!

I would like it a lot better in real wood! Just can't get turned on with laminate! Also would have to convert to 50 B&M Alaskan first thing! Then it would start to be appealing! Pistol grip stock is a big big plus over the too much rear drop guide gun stock!
Something like this only stainless in .500 caliber.
