One of the knocks on the .416 Remington has always been that to achieve the advertised velocity (2400 fps) with 400-grain bullets, you have to compress the power so much that, in a hot environment, you can get a dangerously high pressure spike (and a stuck bolt). This can be a bad thing, so the tell me. My question is, will the .416 Ruger suffer the same problem? I have no idea, myself, and was just wondering. | ||

Old wives tale, don't believe it. If you can shoot a 416 Rem mag in the middle of a Georgia summer, etc. then you can shoot it in Africa. The stuck bolt crap and the extraction problems are limited to a FEW push feed actioned rifles. It's not an issue with the 416 rem mag it will never be an issue with the 416 Ruger. GA, No, you don't have to compress. Use win760 ... the hornady starting load gave me 2385fps, and i never tried to get 1fps mpre from my 416 rem. the 416 ruger would be about the same size/capacity. its the 458 winmag that has the legacy of compressed loads, and that can be remedied with modern powders... opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
