Idaho SharpshooterI think I am going to make it, if my guy gets the 577 done before the deadline. Momma sez "don't whine, go or shut up!". Gosh I love that woman.
I'd just bring it and the 550 Gibbs, and some good ter-kill-ya. How many rounds of ammunition should one bring to a party like this?

Hog KillerRich, with ammo that averges 5/lb, you might need to ship it by UPS/FedX. Remember, you will need enough for you and a "few" for those who want to dance with your babies.

I have allowed a few shooters at my club use my chrono, under the "you break it, you bought it" rule. We all know the "if wounded you still pay" rule so even slight nicks will count. Sure wish I could be there.

I shot a wire support off of Mjines at one of the bubba shoots; fortunately I had one with me so all was corrected. But by the laws of karhma, I am due to have mine shot sooner or later so I'll bring it.
"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Idaho SharpshooterIf, IF I can do this, I will drive down or carpool with Fritz454. Sooooooooo, plenty of room for ammunition. Fifty rounds of each, I know some of you will want to try out the 550 and 577.

MacifejYeah, that's a short drive in the dead of friggin' winter for an afternoon of shooting with the boys!!!
You are a SUPER Yeti Rich!!
10 February 2008, 06:32
Idaho SharpshooterSheesh Mac,
1800 miles is just a nice easy 2-day drive. Leave on Tuesday morning, get there Wednesday night, shoot pigs with Jeffe Thursday and Friday, and Saturday, do that male-bonding thing (in Idaho we call that serious level shooting and drinking) all day Sunday. Leave Monday morning and be home Tuesday night. Give Mamma a week vacation! I am still fussing with the 1886 clone in 50-110, but we can single load it. Four rifles, 50-110, 505 and 550 Gibbs and hopefully the 577BME. You going to make me about 80 solids for the shoot? Just scale up the 550.

Idaho SharpshooterProbably I-84 to I-15 to I-70 to I-25, and down the road to I-10. Look for me about dinnertime Wednesday March 5th. Nuttin' under 50 caliber! If I'm going to Texas, I'm going B-I-G!!

MacifejWhen's the shoot? What do you mean you scaled it up?? I'm assuming you want some .550's or do you need .505's too?
10 February 2008, 06:56
Rodney H.{500Jeffery}Hey Rich, I'd be very happy to see you down here in Texas for the shoot. It's looking like a good get together of some bigbore shooters and collectors of sort. Come early and or stay late for the shoot I'm sure there's somthing that will entertain you. Rodney.
10 February 2008, 07:02
jimatcathey rich, i'll even let you shoot some of the 350 gr cast boolits you sent me for my .416 taylor.... looking forward to meeting you...

Idaho SharpshooterI mean it would be really neat if I had some Macifej .577" solids to shoot... And, if I am not being a pig, it would be pretty cool if you can handle "donating" about 30 each of the 505 and 550's for the boys at the shoot. That would be enough to let everybody try a round. Even cooler if you could wrangle the weekend off and come shoot with us.

MacifejThe .577 FN isn't on the radar yet! The .666" and the 1.326" are in the works right now. If you guys want some .577's for the round-up you'll have to pass the hat and I could get them done in time.

jimatcatnot a problem.... you can have my pickup if you want it... got a new battery, so maybe it will start.....just don't rely on me for lunch... after the last shoot, rusty took us to salt grass steakhouse for lunch... everybody got served... except me.. they forgot mine... i survived on bread, and fried onions....

I am curious to know if there is a market for uberpremium 577's...
Is there?
Would you just increase the dia. By 35 thou for the 577 version of the 550?
11 February 2008, 05:09
MacifejCan't just increase the diameter but they would look the same proportionally. I'm sure there's a market but not too big. The larger the caliber the more expensive everyone's bullets get and the fewer choices there are.
We can do anything up to 4-Bore quickly and relatively inexpensively. 2-Bore and larger takes specialized equipment to get the same prcision and finish.
I could do a small run of 300 or so 577/585 to match the 550's when I do the .666's. Get a few guys together and give me your quantity and a few $$$ I'll get them done for you.
13 February 2008, 07:28
Idaho Sharpshooterokay, 577 owners, can we put together an order for 300 bullets between us?
