This thread reminds me of the democrats regarding the Rush Limbaugh show: "We want equal time!"...Rush's reply: "Hell this show IS equal time!!!!!"

Ruger/ Hornady's .375 (and possibly series) developement IS the answer to Remington's RUM line.

What's Remington expected to do? Improve on their own line?.....It already is better than Rugers even though I believe Ruger's line will outsell Remington many times as it's workable in standard length actions with almost no alterations.

It seems it leaves Remington without the possibility of an oncore.

Besides, they're so inept these days that I doubt Remington could reply if they had to.

The path that Remington has chosen as an importer instead of manufacturer does not give them the flexibility to add new products easily. They wil find it difficult to get any kind of innovation in the lines that they are bringing in so I don't expect to see any new products of any kind in the import line for a few years.

Heck, just look at how long it's taken them to get the 798 and 799's imported in their name when they already had the same product in the country under the Charles Daly name.

i dont think the rum line is the same class as the ruger...

i think if rem was smart they would make jeff a millionaire and buy the a.r. rights and have a std action rum line.

My thoughts exactly. Ya think Jeff would want to start selling shares?

Remington hasn't brought in all the Zastava models yet, check the website in Europe.

http://www.zastava-arms.co.yu/english/civilni.htm

Remington has done much better when they adopt a proven wildcat for production, and not so well by a long shot when they work the cartridge up in-house.

So maybe they should look around...jim

I think most wildcatters don't get a cent for their stuff!!

heck, let remington get 130 year old round in their newest gun...

bring out the SPARTAN in 45-70, and don't worry about doing new stuff!!

The first thing they have to do is to actually get them into stores and not just pics in a catalog.
Second, I think that "new" cartridges are not a good idea....see what happened with Winchester's WSM line. Remington already has the RUM line and they should stick to that. Maybe make Jeffe's AR cartridges "legitimate", but even that is iffy, IMHO.

Mike,
I'll agree that they should get the spartan in my hands... er on the shelf...

but the WSM line brought winchester, browning, ruger, and savage a HUGE number of sales... after all, there's not point in replacing either the 30-06 or the 300winmag with exactly the same thing... if they hadn't ripped off jamison (that is, a patent agreement BEFORE goobbling it up) these would still be the hottest selling rounds are the market.

the RUM line works, but remington, rather than a "little better and lower pressure" went for ALOT faster (and higher pressure)...

I am absolutly certain the WSM has sound 3 for 1 on the rums ... that comes from the number of which i've seen at the range, the amount of selection of bullets behind the shelves (always a better choice on the wsms), the number of makers branding ammo, and the empties laying on the range.

The difference with the RUMS and the WSMs is that remmie bought the imperial magnum line, and renamed them.

in all honesty, I'd rather ruger or the "new new new new" winchester pick up the AR rounds than remmy, unless it was a mauser only thing

jeffe

Don't hold your breath. I suspect half the potential sales have evaporated already.

Boom, since Ruger is now by far the largest and richest firearms manufacturing operation in the USA, I doubt there's much poor ol' Green can do to change the situation. Certainly, none of their rtecent fiasco ventures have much chance of doing that......

We don't need new rounds; everything the big manufacturers would cover has been covered.

We need the guns made better. Even if it costs the consumer more.

I agree(mostly) with the idea that big green just needs to get the darn mausers and doubles to my house...er to dealers! It would be nice to see them do their own 470 and 500 in a standard length cartridge case, too. I showed them a wildcat 25 I made up ten years ago based on the 6.5x68Shuler and they went "nice, have you seen our totally new 700ML?". The SAUM lineup could have been really good, with a bit of promotion, but it seems to be dying on the vine.

Someday..........

regards,

Rich
