This is worthy of Saeed's "Hero" videos!

There is a post on NitroExpress.com of a gentleman who built and shot a .600 NE handgun. There are two videos that "Kamikaze" posted.

You can see the post on NE here:

Here is a link to a video Kamikaze posted:

A new "Hero" for Saeed.

Here is a video of Kamikaze shooting a Lite load:

Watch the video!!!

when the first guy lights it off, it hits him in the head!!! there's gas still coming out of the barrel, and hit careens off his knoggen!!!

the seecond guy starts with it one handed... then goes to 2.. and the guns flies out of his hands, BUTT hits him in the left eye/cheek, twirling backwards, bounces off his glasses, breaks his glasses , and flies back out of frame!! twirels 2.5 times, and there's blood coming from his left cheek

I wonder if any of them shot it a second time? And more importantly where does one buy that pistol? bewildered It just looks like they are having such a fun time shooting it.

The thing that gets me is the surprised look on their faces. What did they expect?

Jeffe,

The gun missed my head, other guy was hit but no blood spilled. Prior to his shooting the 600, I had conversation about how to stand and hold the grip. He didn't take my advice.

I once read an article about a 600NE revolver in a german gun magazine. There was a picture of the test shooter wearing a motorcycle helmet.

Deep Space Hunter,

Dave Van Horn in Arizona will make the barrel for an Encore frame. It's NOT cheap, so be prepared. Then, add the expensive ammo, dies, etc. I'm having a Trim die made by a machinist (my brother in law) so I can trim the brass. I'm sure the brass has stretched a little.

I suggest if you're going to have a .600 Nitro Express pistol made, a good grip and suitable forend is necessary.

JV,

Pfeiffer-Waffen in Austria made the revolver, but at $18,500, plus shipping, plus tax, plus import charges, plus the import FFL fee it's not cheap. Also, it's a 6 month (or 18 month delivery time?). When I contacted Pfeiffer-Waffen, I did not discuss the actual loads for the revolver. It may have been a light load or the standard 600 NE load.

My light load was actually the max load for the Encore frame at 35,500 psi. My full house load (not fired in the video) has 41 gr more powder using the 900 gr bullet but still at 35,500 psi. The revolver weighs 13.5# (mine weighs 7#).

Jeffe,

Mine, all mine. I also have an Encore chambered in .50-140 Sharps (see picture of the "Dueling Pistols" in my original posting on NitroExpress.com). The Sharps actually hit me on the upper lip on the recoil. The recoil was more horizontal than the .600, due partly in the different type of muzzle brake.

Doug,

I'm thinking about renting out my .600 for use for a safari. I'll have to feel out a suitable price (depending on the customers needs and time frame).

.600 Nitro on the right and .50-140 Sharps on the left? What would happen if I fired BOTH at the same time? Would the recoil send me back so fast I experience a "time dilation"? Einstein would be proud.

I'd pay good money to see you shoot a load of 165 grs of IMR7828 with a 900 gr woodleigh in that thing. That's the lite load in the .600 OK.
Bet it takes a piece out of your head.-Rob

Loading Data (Full Nitro Loads):
900 grain jacketed bullet
158gr Hodgdon 4831 powder
1670 FPS Muzzle Velocity (14†barrel length)
5550# Muzzle Energy (14†barrel length)

I thought I might run the above data through a recoil calculator. Assuming a 4 lb pistol.

A mere ............................................

Recoil Energy of 306 foot pounds, and Recoil Velocity of 70 fps.

The same load through a 16 pound double rifle ...............

Recoil Energy of 76 foot pounds, and Recoil Velocity of 18 fps.

Anyone here ever hear of Howdah Pistols? They were made in some big cals and were S/S. I have seen them up to .75 cal.! I have actually seen one in the flesh so to speak and today they are worth big $ to collectors.
