That's what I'm leaning towards... how hard is it to find or make brass for this, get dies, etc... are bullets the same diameter as 600 nitros?

470,
Components are easy to get: Brass from AHR (Jamison), dies are from CH and the bullets are the usual 620's like the nitro. Of which, there's getting to be more all the time. It's an easy cartridge to load for. Straight walled and as much horsepower as you can take BOOM

I was thinking a .500A2 would be another fine choice for this action.

Anyone know what kind of magazine capacity are we talking with the .460 case?

22 Hornet Big Grin

Idealy something that cant be done on smaller actions well.

Other than the ones mentioned Rich's idea of the 50 BMG spotter or the 416 Barrett might be neet options albeit the rim might need to be reduced a tad.

Neck up the 416 Barrett to 577?

700 AHR or Ed's 700HE on a 3.25" BMG case with a belt and a rebated rim. The AHR is actually a .685" VS Ed's true .700" but you will not notice any difference in surgery!

Be a hero here, design and build your own big bore 'cat. Thoughts: how about a .650" Olson? There is a void between the .600's and the .700's. Neck the AHR case down to take a .650" bullet. At the velocities you will be able to stand, a cast bullet will be as good as jacketed.

The PH action will have the Gibbs rim as max, unless you get them to do a special for you. I would call in the AM and check that if you are headed that way. The AHR has a .665" rim, so you would only have to have them enlarge it .030" for that case. Throw the .650" idea to Bitterroot, he might let you be the first to wildcat his design. The same for Ed.

You'll need an adult size action but I could help you with a new rifle in .666" Teufel. It will make a real nice plinker in the off season eh??!

Thats easy the.600OK- There are at least 35 of them out there now. Tested and reliable load data and easily found components. Knowledgeable gunsmiths who can build it for you and not make you wait forever. It's all you'll ever need or want. Specify the .640 boltface on the Montana action for it. AHR and I ( since I invented it) have reamers and alot of knowledge about what it takes to make it go reliably. -Rob
