I am not a reloader, but my partner is. We have Ele on license later this year. We both will be shooting the .458Lott, me from a RSM and partner from a Dakota. We have the CEB in 450gr and 500gr on order. He is concerned about the OAL using these bullets with enough powder to reach 2250-2300fps and still having them fit and feed through our rifles. These bullets, particularly the CEB brass bullets, seem to be quite long. Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for any experienced replies. When you load some up, let us know how they feed.

Wishing you good luck on your trip from one bay area hunting guy to another. Are you talking about the BBW# 13 bullet sold by Cutting Edge Bullets? I think Sam was using his 577 nitro using the BBW #13 nose profile using a copper bullet and the bullet went three feet farther after exiting the brain. I think the #13 has proven it does not need too much velocity to get a lot of penetration. If my ass or trophy was on the line I would care more about the choice of bullet than 50 or 100 fps not that I don't think the Lott is capable of getting your target velocity with that bullet. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. http://forums.accuratereloadin...804/m/1201069141/p/4 Here is a link to the 577 CEB #13 BBW and elephant. Is there time to get a smith to get these bullets to feed flawlessly if there are any issues feeding rather than another bullet? 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. Yes, the BBW #13, which is a brass, not copper, bullet in .458Lott. Mike ______________ DSC DRSS (again) SCI Life NRA Life Sables Life Mzuri IPHA "To be a Marine is enough."

Good to hear these bullets will get more elephant field testing hopefully. The brass should work the same if not better. Good luck! 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

boom stick - Thanks for the good wishes and the help. If these don't work, we will have no problem going with another bullet, but we were intrigued by the straight line penetration of these, so thought we'd try them in our rifles, if they'll fit and feed. I hope they feed well in your guns as is but you could load them a tad deeper if need be. The amazing straight line penetration is ideal for those Elephant frontal shots. Heck they proved that plus 3 more feet!!!! 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

Lionhunter, Here is the procdure I use when figuring on out how deep to seat a new bullet for a bolt rifle. I seat a bullet into an empty case to a very shallow level. I then try that round in the magazine, normally it will be too long so I seat the bullet progressively deeper until it will clear the forward edge of the nmagazine well by about 1/16". I then try the round in my rifle to make sure it isn't too long for my chamber length and chambers easily. The mono metal bullets are longer than lead core bullets of the same weight so they will seat deeper into the case reducing case capacity and consequently max velocity. You may not be able to safely reach 2,300 fps with the CEB or NF solid. 465H&H

The 500 grain .458 CEBs I have are about the same length as the Barnes Banded Solids in the same weight and caliber - 1.55" With W760, H414 and V N550 you should be able to safelyreach 2250fps in your Lott at the typical OAL. I have not found any issus at all in my bolt guns with feeding these CEBs but I would take the advice here and check to make sure they do in yours. Good Luck! So that would put the 450gr .458 CEBs are about 1.4" in length - same as the 450gr Barnes BND SLD. Edit Added: The CEB FN Solid and HP NonCon bullets will have less barrel friction than the Barnes BND SLD and most of their TSX style bullets so using Barnes loading information for their .458 caliber 450gr bullets would be a good starting point. I ran some quick scenarios via QL, 22” barrel, with 450gr Barnes BND SLD…and was able to get 2300 fps all under Pmax (MAP) pressure…using the following powders: H322, Benchmark, RL-12, Accurate 2495, AR 226, IMR 3031, Norma 202, VV N135, and W748.
