The Fifty Ought Eight My first 500 Mbogo was in hand summer of 2008, the second in 2009, an idea I fiddled with since about 2003. Dave Estergaard revealed he had the idea in the 1990s, after he did the 470 Mbogo, but was never crazy enough about it to follow through. I was! This is the perfect 50 for sporting bolt action. Puts the 500 Jeffery to shame! Use your 500 Jeffery dies as neck sizer and crimper for this one. Redding made the custom 3-Die set. Quality Cartridge makes the brass. Dave manson made the reamer. It is released to the gun trade. Nonproprietary. The Forty Ought Seven .395 Tatanka was born on 7-7-2007 delivery of a Dakota M76 African so chambered, into my hands. It is truly unique. 398 Lapua, .395 Ruger, and 400/.395 Nitro Express 3" Aboriginal (10.03x75R) subsequent to that. I still need a straight neck up of the .375 H&H, a .395 H&H, to complete the "Big Five .395's." The Thirty Ought Six Not my wildcat. Borned elsewhere, but a great compliment to my battery. Since 2001 I have also done these 5 cats on the .338 Lapua Mag, and so have others done some of these. My .308 Lapua is same as the 300 Lapua (25-degree shoulder) but with a 300Wby throat. My .423/.338 Lapua Magnum is full length, not shortened like the .423 Dakota-Lapua. I started mine before I knew of Dakota's cart. My .375/.338 Lapua Magnum was done before I knew of the German .375 Tornado, mine has a .375Wby throat, otherwise identical. The .458/.338 Lapua was my first Lapua cat, but I started it here before knowing about any others: .308 .375 398 (listed again) .423 .458 My involvement in the .615 NE 3.5" or 20 Gauge Hellboy 3.5" has been a group project here, which is serious enough to qualify for this list, even if it is a RIP-off of the Hastings shotgun cartridge in plastic case. I don't think anyone else had done the 20 Gauge 3.5" brass until we did it here, eh? Thanks to RMC. After Robgunbuilder's 12GaFH, it may be a bit of an anticlimax, but sweet nonetheless.

Nope! The gun was born when the customer asked the builder if he could make the rifle based on the brass. All of which happened independent of AR. In fact neither of them were posters at the time. The .666 Teufel was invented on these pages or at least first mentioned here.

So I guess, Ed's designs in 585 do not qualify as AR exclusive, or has that been overlooked? The 585HE and its offspring the 577BME and 585short something. Nice work, regardless. I guess the Gibbs belted 577, might be the BME. With the HE belt and taper, this 3" case would be my favorite of all the AR wildcats, FWIW. The 585 fits nicely in a progression of straight sided belted cases: 458Lott, 500A2,550Mag,585HE and 600 OK. Then Ed has or is working on a belted 700.

this is a post of introduction ... Ed can enter whatever he likes. ed's 585 is NOT a 577BME .. Ed designed it from nyati brass, not from belted gibbs, HIS clear distinction. opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I was speculating the gibbs belted was the BME? I believe Ed collabroated on that dsign. The BME that is. Three seperate designs. 585HE, 577BME and the short one that headspaces like the 45acp. So is the 585HE included or not?

Actually there is couple hundred 585HE cases, over half in collectors hands already. Designed while on AR- 499HE, 585 Short HE, 700HE 3.25, 10ga FH brass case, 8ga FH brass case, 4bore and 877HE. I had the 585HE and 700HE before I got on AR as well as 458HE. And 510HE which I changed to the 499HE..Ed MZEE WA SIKU

The .600Ok had bigger and smaller siblings. There was the .600OK 2 and 3. Which were longer versions of the same case. I still have a few of these that Dieter Horneber made for me. Since no living being could shoot one of these and survive we left things as is with the .600OK No.1. We also necked the case down to .577 ( now the .585 AHR), .550,.510,.474,.416 and even to .375. Just prior to joining AR I had a .600 and a .700RLG which were built on .50BMG cases. I still have the guns.-Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!
