Flying with the rifle isn't a problem but sometimes the ammo may be. Ship the ammo ahead in quantity is a better idea. This is best with large caliber since there are weight restrictions on ammo with the airlines which wouldn't allow you to take much anyway.

Macifej,

Do you have any advice on how to go about doing this?

I'm getting ready to book Zim for 2009....

Some guys said this is pain to do, but I'd rather go through some hassle now than not have my ammo when I get there...

Matt V.

Matt,

I've inquired of several people regarding shipping loaded ammo to SA and Zim but have no definitive answer. I also asked about shipping components and then doing a quick load up on location.

It would be worth investigating given the benefits and that you have a bit of time before your departure.

My comments were in reference to domestic and European shipping.

I'd contact my proposed outfitter to see if they have experience importing ammo for their clients.

Ahhhhhhh
I was thinking of Africa to Wink
After all that is where true BIG bores really comes into play.
I took my .500 Jeffery to Argentina and did all the paperwork with the Embasy myself, not that hard.
They did however look with BIG eyes at the Airport in Argentina when they inspectes the Ammo Eeker

Cheers,

André
