Thank you.
Gla you are feeling better.
I have a feeling this will not be your last double deuce.
Have you considered doing double falling blocks like Bailey Bradshaw?

bigdoggy2boreGuys as some of you all ready know, the double deuce is headed to me upon completion. I love watching it be built one step at a time. I am going to have to get another safe to make a nice home for this baby. As far as we know, it will be a true one of a kind for at least a little while. Colin, now that you have read this, get back to work!! Great job so far.

jones2bIt's going to be quite a rifle. I had the only single shot Jones 2 bore for a while, but Colin will be building another one in the fture for a client. I've shot mine around 20 times with a 350 gr charge.I shot it once with 500 gr--that was enough. Check out the paradox bullet that Colin designed--weight is around 2400 gr--big difference in the recoil between it and the 3300 gr. ball. Congratulations on your future S xS monster.

boom stickWhat's next? The two bore drillings?

Can we call the Deuce Deuce the worlds most powerful double rifle?
21 February 2012, 05:47
CowboyCSBoom Stick,
There's enough space on this thing a guy could hid a .22 barrel in the rib and never know the difference. I was thinking and 6 gauge smoothbore insert for one barrel would make it a nice cape gun, just in case you wanted to go waterfowling while on safari.

Colin
21 February 2012, 06:32
boom stickA 22 rib barrel!?
Sweet!
Would be a heavy 223 gun for Dik Dik and then follow up shots with a 2 bore lol
For those who have not seen that last video update it is a must! It really comes to life with that last video. Thank you so much for documenting this incredible project. Speaking of scale, the 2 bore will look like a 12 gauge in big dog's hands.
Question. With such a heavy front end will it cause and wear and loosening issues if you just let it drop open? How about ejectors for fast reloading?

21 February 2012, 07:35
CowboyCSDik Dik with a 2 Bore...Hmmmmmm

Actually the barrel weight is an issue even with the single shot, just dropping it open is sure way to loosen the action. No ejectors are not an option. I've done two shots back to back with the single shot and I can tell you from experience a fast 3 and 4 are pretty much out of the question. Even with the added weight of the double, I'm thinking 4 shots is a days worth of shooting.
In a real world dangerous game situation be sure to carry vaseline...cause if you put two shots from the 2 Bore into the animal and it's still coming...you should just hand the rifle to it and bend over.

bigdoggy2boreColin, that is a very nice looking 40 cal chunk gun. Plenty long enough barrel.

RIPReally appreciate the look at how this is done.
Turning of the barrels and lamp black fitting the action on the latest episode of the series was very interesting. Thanks.

CowboyCSFor a while now I've been trying to be consistent with my updates and post them on Saturday afternoon/evening when I am done working for the week. BUT tomorrow I will be busy all day with livestock and farm work(it's that time of year when all the newborns come and livestock needs to be moved out to pastures). So this week you get the update a day early.

boom stickI have enjoyed every video. I have learned so much. Continued admiration and thanks.
I wish Bailey would show how the sausage is made too

03 April 2012, 03:38
CowboyCSI'm glad you guys are enjoying the show. If you have any questions just ask, I'll answer what I can.
Question: When this is all done...if I compiled all the segments into one, two(more as needed) DVD sets and had them professionally copied would any of you be interested in buying it?
Colin
03 April 2012, 03:53
boom stickI don't know if there is a market for DVDs alone but there might be a better market for a book, plans with DVDs. Instead of you footing the bill for video production maybe you can pitch it as part of a show and see if any cable network would be interested in doing it. Just a thought. Gun shows are quite popular lately. I would watch the show on the Discovery Channel. Recreating the guns of the past.
04 April 2012, 07:30
bigdoggy2boreI would certainly take a DVD.

CowboyCSI didn't get as much done as I had wanted to this week. Tuesday my Father ended up in the Hospital needing a blood transfusion. Then Wednesday I took him down to Topeka to see a Specialist. Thankfully he is home now and after several more transfusions is feeling much better. BUT that was all time I was away from my shop.
