Should Dave trademark the "Mbogo" cartridge name and let me pay royalties to him for the two 500 Mbogos?

boom:

If Dave charges too much for the Mbogo name, I'll have to change the name of mine to the "500 Mobogo."

I hereby release the name "Mobogo" to the gun trade.

Gotta be bigger than .475 caliber to be a "Mobogo."

Mobogo cartridges are mo' bigger.

Can you hijack a hijacked thread? I guess you can... Big Grin

The 600 Mbogo is a reduced casehead 416 Barrett necked up to 600. Just skim off 10 thou off the casehead to measure .780", neck up to 600 and there you go. Also called the 600 WTFJH (WTF just happened)

Kinda like a supersize 577 TREX

Just waiting for the next hijack... popcorn

Nay, Ripper, just trying to be funny as everybody else! Smiler

They all work in a proper gun. Easy as that.
Some are easier than others to build, but in the field you would be hard pressed to note any difference.
I just think the AR is the best looking of the lot! And 2200 with a 600 grs bullet is as far as I would want any .500 to go.

And I DO love your new saying about finding corners in round rooms! Smiler

Very interesting, your Fred Wells/Granite Mountain .505 Gibbs.
It would be very gentlemanly of you to open the floor plate and put a caliper to the backend and frontend box width and let us see if Fred Wells goes by the "Mauser Law of Box Width": MLBW
end Quote,

Hi RIP it is 1.040 at the back and 0.870 at the front, but it is not a straight taper, it looks like it kicks in a bit at around where the shoulder is. I don't know the formula, but it feeds perfectly, so it must be right.

I have a Blackburn unit for the 505 that measures 1.09 in the back and .86 in front.

Interesting discussion. Are the new CZ 550 Safari Classic customs "working" properly in .505? Just picked one up and yet to procure any ammo. The gun was a steal so that's the caliber I am going with.....
