I'm currentyl running rifles giving about 2K, and 4500. I'm looking to do a true big bore that generates in the 7K neighborhood. Can the 470 Capstick reliably get 2300 FPS with a 600 gr bullet or 2450 with a 500gr. Would I be better to go up to a 500 Jeffery or something else. I haven't aquired an action for this project yet. Most of the builds I have done so far have only gone up through 458 Lott, but I have no reservations against doing any of the required mods to bolts or recievers to fit any of the other rounds either. I will mosst likely be working from wither a mauser, Winchester, or possibly another Montana. Most of what I'm looking for is which cartridge is most practical from a standpoint of component availability and component cost that will generate the numbers I'm looking for. Yes it's cocked, and it has bullets too!!!

. 500 A=Sq. , ., I don,t think the 470 Capstick reliably , consistently produces 2450 fps with a 500 gr bullet .. @ 2550 fps , the 460 Weatherby will,, with a 500 gr. bullet .If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

Piece of cake for a .500 A-Square. Well over 8,000 ft.-lbs. of KE at the muzzle can be had with 570-600 grain bullets at 2,500-2,550 fps. I have developed loads with RL-15 and H4350 using Woodleigh and Barnes bullets that can achieve those power levels. The .500 A-Square is one of the most practical big bores in existence, as well.
