A bit new here, but I was told that this place would be a good one to get some ideas.

I am having a 416 Rigby built on a Vektor action. I've got most everything figured out, except the rear sighs. I had initially wanted a quarter rib, but have not been able to locate a picture of one exactly like I want. Most that I have seen are too bulky for my tastes, but I understand that there may be some trade off to ge the sights high enough to actually be used.

Will the rifle have a scope or iron sights only?

If it is ti be sciped, then the stick should be made to fit the scope, if si then I would put the ironb sights up higher so you can use them with the "scope stock" if that makes sense.

That is the way I would do it.
I would have two scopes in good sets of QD mounts.

There is a strong possibility that the rifle will be built with claw mounts holding a backup scope. Either way, the primary purpose will be for use with irons, the scope will be a secondary consideration.

I can't tell you which one to you, but I can share my preference for spec.

1: fairly narrow ... less than .6" wide
2: 1 standing, 1 folding... unless you ahve a great rest, 200 yards is tough in a field position... 300 is a dream
3: simple .. boneyard simple.. I have the necg adjustable on my 500 jeffe.. it works, but I don't "trust" it
4: tough

A screw-on/solder-on quarter rib is like tits on a boar hog.

Get a barrel band/sleeved express sight island with a recoil lug on the bottom. All integral, solid and fitted to the barrel by proper contouring by the smith.

Integral quarter ribs might make sense, otherwise they are prissy.

You know in your heart this is true. Your second example above is the correct one to do with your barreled action.

I like the look of the "add on" quarter ribs.

I think it looks good.

Granted an integral rib is preferable, but man, they ain't cheap on aftermarket barrels.

I really like the Martini-Hagn quarter ribs, though I guess they typically are integral. Beautiful craftsmanship though.

Fred Zeglin added this Dakota quarter rib to my 1895 Winchester (Douglas barrel). Though the stock isn't set up for a scope, so the rib doesn't have to be high.

making a quarter-rib is about an hours work for a decent machinist/gunsmith. I am making mine next week as soon as my express rear sight gets here.
One standing, two folding...a .510KX does not need a 300yd sight leaf. I am building it as an express sight rifle a scope is an affectation (imho) on a dedicated "stopper" rifle.
