Whilst on this subject(Open sights),I'm in the same boat.Going to be keeping my CZ bare-back,as I find I snap-shoot quite allot in my style of hunting(Heavy cover). And I do agree that the white paint(Front hood sight) CZ provide really isn't that flash. As mentioned the front hood sight(With the small dot painted white),can be very difficult to pickup through the rear sight(Under most hunting conditions IMO) ![]() Whilst I was checking out the CZ's,I had the chance to compare it with the T3 Battue in the same cal. Let me say this,Tikka has done an outstanding job with the way they have set-up there open sights. T3 Battue has a glow guide system with green & red combo(Like a plane landing strip at night).Which is VERY easy to pick-up as soon as you shoulder it. What I have been thinking to fix the problem was either, order the rear Battue ramp sight(Which uses the same guide holes I think(And front hood sight if needed). Or/& paint the front dot with a fluro(GLOW) red/orange colour paint.Which should make it allot easier to pick-up in low-light & those fast running shots. Has anyone painted the front bead?If so what are you using? PS-PC,you have a PM. ![]() K.I.S.S.

For peace of mind, it takes all of 30seconds to field strip your bolt and inspect that everything is okay prior to stepping into the bush. Beyond that, if you had a problem in the field I'd much rather have the dubble nut firing pin spring retention vs. the c-clip. The firing pin itself is threaded but is machined flat on both sides(you can slip an open end wrench on it). The first nut is a collar w/out threads that has a matching slot to the flats. This collar slides up and down on the pin but does not turn. The outer nut is threaded and has locking tits that match locking recesses in the collar. If you were in the field w/ those parts disassembled in your hand, you could quickly and easily reassemble the parts using nothing more than the small tool supplied w/ the rifle. It's the small flat oval piece of steel w/ a screwdriver tip on one end and a slot in the middle. The big end of the slot fits over the assembly then a section of the spring towards the nut end is slid into the small end of the slot. You can now squeeze and compress the spring like a big syringe and by hand slip on the collar and hand thread the nut to the stop. Release the spring tension and you are done. You would probably play hell fiddling w/ the c-clip in the field. As far as the sights go, you can get a cutter from NECG and re-machine the CZ sight to accept NECG blades. Also, you can get an NECG Universal sight base w/ blade of choice. This is a good option if you shorten the barrel. A NECG red or white bead at the correct height for the CZ rear sight makes for an excellent sight picture. GVA

Does anyone know if CZ ever did fix this on the 'medium 550' series. Or does the tiny c-clip remain? ps- Is there now(2011/12/13 CZ stock) a 'steel' follower in the 'medium 550' series, or polymer?

Hey, my 9.3 x 62 ( Full stocked ) had the 2 plastic parts, too. Mailed, and got replacement parts for free .. now it´s all steel. :-) I didn´t get misfires with my C Clip, i noticed accuracy to suddenly detoriate terribly. Screwed the single nut in, loctited, set the clip with loctite some distance apart. Check it every once a while ... distence there, spring pressure ok. OK, might not be the perfect solution, but works ... Where do i get a second nut for a better solution of the problem??? Thread size? Metric no problem, of course ;-) Hermann formerly, before software update, known as "aHunter", lost 1000 posts in a minute
