If the 375 RUM case is shortened to 2.5 inches, and a one caliber neck restored we should be fully capable of surpassing 375 H&H velocities (like a 375 Dakota) and it should (with a bit of rail work) function well in a standard magnum action of a M-70 or a M-98 mauser with the bolt face opened a bit and some rail work. It should also work at a bit lower pressure than the 375 Taylor at the same velocity. Jeffe, is this the same as the 375 AR you're working on? Has anyone done this? Is there a name for it?...other than the 375 RUM short? Has anyone stuck this thing in a VZ-24? /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Vapodog, the 375 AR is 2.55 brass, 3.35 oal, fits in standard length actions, cheap brass, more capacity (due to larger case) than the 375 Ackley, 416 rem, 458 lott, and 470 capstick. I didn't "bother" with a 375, as there is the 38-55, 375 win, 9,3x73, 9,3x74, 375 whelan, 9,3x62, 376 steyr, 375 taylor, 375x300win, 9,3x64, 375 HH, 9,3x68, 375x68, 375 weatherby, 375 ackley, 375 dakota, 378 weatherby ... as things are a little crowded at about 366 to 375. with that in mind, here's the Accurate Reloading Cartridges I would iamgine you would meet 375 ackley with it.. it's just a reamer away, as it would have the same headspace. want one? opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? But...of these the following are not competing at all:
Only the 375 Dakota and the 375 Taylor compete in their ability to be used in modern standard magnum actions and the Dakota has a high pricetag on the brass and the Taylor is a bit short of capacity compared to the .375 AR (lets call it that) Others are either not in the power class (such as the 375 winchester and 375 Whelen) or are not suited to the standard bolt action rifle..... Actually the drawings you have are about what I'm thinking is a good use for the RUM cases.....are you planning on getting one?...I'd chip in for it if you're into that! There's another devious thing about this.....the barrel can be labeled .375 RUM AR and the brass is already stamped .375 RUM.....close enough for the kind of girls I go out with!!! The conflict of the stamp on the barrel is not a problem as a .375 RUM case will NEVER fit into it!!! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Or would I be better off just chambering to 375 Dakota, making brass from RUM cases, labeling the barrel .375 RUM SHORT and getting on with life? /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." i would like to see the 338, 35, 9,3(for lawndart), 375, 411 and 423 but there has to be demand for them. the 375 would be great for those who already own a 375 taylor and want (i am guessing) 200 more fps. man can you imagine all the 35 whelen people gaining 300 fps! (again, a guess) i think the 35 whelen people have the most to gain for the buck get rid of that norma mag belt too! but like all things...time and money, time and money 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S.
