Ouch! I'm sorry I missed it. My company just bought a power plant in Connecticut and I got stuck there managing the construction.

Sorry I don't have more pitures to share. Just got busy and never picked up the cameras until late in the match.

Note the ghost ring rear sight. It was very nice!

Next time I promise a class photo at least!

Tony, that Burris red dot on Rusty's rifle is the cats ass! I shot it and liked it and it is tiny! I just can't shoot those irons like when I was young.

Everyone who shot it, including me loved it. I'll do some longevity testing to see how well it holds up over the next few months.

Harry, Berit Aagaard was shooting her late husband's rifle. Finn Aagaard's pre 64 Win in 375 H&H. The score to date, 48 cape buffs and one water buff she shot this last year. Pkus lots of other stuff. You could tell simply by looking, thias rifle has traveled across Africa many, many miles. Lots of honest wear, but still in good shape.

Berit has had Safari Press reprint Finn;s "Aagaard's African Adventures"" , This is an unedited version straight from Finn's original manuscript. I am looking forward to reading my copy, very soon.

You know for us over 50 characters That grew up on Finn's writings just seeing that 375 was worth the trip to Houston. And if that wasn't enough the BBQ was worth the trip. The only problem with the whole thing is that it is only once a year Wink

Frowner Talk about feeling like a real idiot. I talked to her several times. Listened to comments she made when she timed my target shoot and it NEVER hit me who I was talking to. CRYBABY I have to pull my reading material back out.

Paul,
I believe everyone there knows who Finn was. It was a mark of distinction for Berit to be there.

She had a 3 CD audio book for sale. Finn was interviewed shortly before his death.
He spoke of his early years growing up, his start at hunting and the war. He also spoke of the years here in the US and about writing.

He spoke of their courtship. She was not afraid of much. She was one of the early white woman in Africa, the native ladies were very interested in her and her baby. She would jump in and help with the skinning of large game, or climb a tree and wait by herself for hours while the guys tracked wounded dangerous game.

They had a very interesting life together.

You mean to tell me Finn's pre64 375H&H was there and nobody told me?? Just to touch it would have made my year! I was probably one of the youngest there. I am a Keith fan, not into O'Connor's little popguns. I have read just a little bit of Finn's work and it was great. Maybe next time. I'll definitely bring a camera and maybe a couple of big bore shootin friends. I would without a second thought at a moments notice drive back for a meet at Bayou Rifles. What a great enthusiastic and generous bunch. I can't say enough about the positive experiences I had. I have been to some shooting events in the past at other places with other folks where the attitudes sucked. Mostly because I didn't drive a Mercedes or have a $50,000.00-$150,000.00 custom rifle. That doesn't matter to this group and thats the way I like it.

Trust me I sure had read Finn and Berit. I even heard the talk of "THE" pre 64 375. Heck I even went and looked at it. I just didn't catch whose rifle I was looking at. Talked to Berit after she timed me and picked up my brass. The darn old Swiss cheese memory just didn't register. homer

Just wanted to add my thanks to Rusty and the good folks at Bayou Rifles for hosting this event. Calling this the Hoot and Shoot is very fitting as this was a blast both literally and figuratively.

I was luck enough to time Berit during one of the timed events and let me tell you she can make that .375 sing. 4 aimed shots in a little over 13 seconds.

Rusty was kind enough to let me try out his DR and let me tell you that Halo sight is the cats pajamas. Very easy to pick up even in bright sunlight and real quick. His was the first DR that I have ever fired and even a novice like me managed to sort out the always dangerous PWB at 25 yards.

Very good to meet all the AR members and hope to see you again real soon.

Best regards,

Mario

Mark? He was too busy cleaning up on the DWG course. He and the 400/360 Evans led the field with a time of 1.38 secs. Eeker
