Although it shows a round ball, weren't punt guns normally loaded with shot to take down multiple waterfowl by the market hunters of the time? They usually has a large pin or dowel in the forend that mounted into the bow of the boat to handle the recoil.

Punt guns were generally used for flock shooting waterfowl on the water with large shot loads. Bores up to a couple of inches diameter. Market hunting as stated previously. There is another group of very similar guns called Wall guns but they had much shorter barrels and usually a hooked forend for hanging on the edge of the wall.

Need a 20” punt gun but use aluminum flat nose bullets which will still come in at about 2000 grains compared to the 7000+ grain lead round ball for 4,440 ft lbs energy @ 1000 fps. Would be a fun hog gun if you can get it to weigh around 50 lbs.
