Just visited Pac-Nor website…

Noticed they stock 20mm (.825â€) bbls…

Looks like a pretty good price…

Does anyone know what folks are chambering these for and what actions they are putting them on?

I did a search here on AR didn’t find much chatter...

Thanks for any replies

Matt V

Er? 20mm M103...........make your own action. Couple guys here making their own or you can buy the complete rifle from a few different guys. Not exactly inexpensive to build or operate unless you own a machine shop or shoot surplus projectiles or ammo. Plus you'll need the NFA paperwork for a repeater and maybe even single shots now. Have to check with the NFA branch in WV. Write a letter, get an answer, build a gun, have some fun. (call the guys at Pac-Nor and ask them what most guys are doing with them) Cool

You may be correct but I don't think so Jeffe. If standard M103 chamber then will accept API, HEI. DU, etc. which is available to us civilians - that makes it NFA. Check Anzio's web site they will likely have a disclaimer somewhere that you need the paperwork. If it's sporting use then no DD exemption or NFA is required. I.E. 2-Bore. I have the letter obviously since I'm making them.

Tried to call Pac-Nor today but only got the machine...

The 20mm sounds to be alittle out of my leauge for now...

Right rifle wrong time...

Talking to ED about 700 HE, we'll see...

Mac,
a 20MM is going to fall into 3 catagories...basically

NFA - short barreled or 27" of a rifle, or auto ... .500 or greater bore has no bearing here

sport designation .. no WAY if it uses a 20mikemike milsurp case or chamber, but perhaps in some cases it COULD.... not what I would think of as a high probability, but perhaps.. .500+ has bearing

DD exception . .500+ , and not "sporting" .. and unless there's a shotgun shell and bird shot...

.825 is huge

What's the ballistics on 20mm?

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

According to Anzio’s website…

1600 gr @ 3300 fps…

That’d be about 39,000 fpe!!!

We are in agreement! In any event surplus 20 makes for a shit rifle as the round is about minute of circus tent and then you have to find a way to hold on to it! Big Grin

I called them today about pricing to find
source for the 8GA FH(.835), it is close enough
to work, and they are priced over 2 times too high. They are set up with sshallower groves
than military use, for guys doing long range target shooting.Land dia .815 -- groove .825.
800 bucks, 45" long. He said they are doing
a dozen for one order now, About 10 grand.
I'm looking at other options, in other
places, like used 20mm surplus and take out
some of the rifling. Reason I'm checking on
is I made case from HS brass, and made my
.900HE belted case from same brass, but 8 ga
is exempt already. And should get decent power
as good as 20mm if I get good barrel/action..Ed

Ed! Just a though but I was thinking more along the lines of an 8 Bore bolt gun. Your barrel doesn't have to be that monster. It could be normal sporting rifle size. They already have the drill and the button so that is where the big savings comes in - you don't have to buy them the $3000.00 plus in tooling before you even get started.

Mac -- It would have to be McBros size
action for bolt guns. Even the PH wouldn't
work. Plastic cases start at 3.35" long and go to about 4" . My case is 4.3 brass.
Chamber will fire shorter plastic also-
I got sizes same for long and short.
Rim is ..998- Base .913- Mouth .903".
I'd like a box full of McBros actions.
That's why I doing falling block.
Now I could cheat and set up a moderate
pressure action on a reamed out......
well you know what, like other one..... Ed

Ed,

will the Wickliffe work "as is" for the barrel shank? I wouldn't think you could stand loads hot enough to run into pressure issues...

I gotta call JD in the morning after we get back from shooting the big boys a little and find out about the 950.

As soon as I get a press mounted sizer/luber figured out I got to shoot some of the 881gr 550 bullets and the 1010 577 next month. I also need to talk with Joel about a standard weight pair of moulds.

The Wickcliff isn't big enough. that is
why we(Tom and I) are working on getting
scaled up version . The other one I referring to, Enfield. Same process only bigger
that I just did 700 3.25".I may have
figured out for 8ga, plus have a 12ga
heavy second blank that I got in deal from
PAC that I can ream out to 8ga smooth.

The 950 is blase'--might as well build a
4bore/ga and shoot 2000gr slugs that guy in
WV makes that I have here with 4bore cases
I made. Cases identical to the turned ones
that Ken Owen in TN puts in his doubles.
Our 4bore is 20mm straightened,reshaped,
and ends up with 4bore rim-
It is a .998" bore..Ed
