Wow Daisey...quite the meltdown so early in the evening. You usually seem to work up to this level of rage. Honey, your academic creds don't impress me, nor does your wife, kids, toys or house. I left the corporate world while I was thriving, fiber optic engineer was my last position, bought my house early in a wonderful area, still have it, as well as great credit, a career that I love, and have had a life full of travel and interesting experiences. If I still wanted to be sitting in a cubicle, I would be. Instead I work in a stunning environment, set my own hours and work on things I enjoy. This afternoon was spent inletting a nice little boxlock for a client, yesterday I sold two very expensive double rifles and my commission was quite healthy. I learned trades first, and have feed my family from them, many times - Industrial painting, sandblasting, wrenching, jack-leg engineering BEFORE getting out of HS - I held (due to lack of paying dues for decades) then after HS, a Painter's union card, still have welding certs - can lay a decent bead, but out of practice HS, and from my stepdad, learned the basics of machining and draft - Went to college, broke my back while working in the trades, learned computers, went back to college, got my degree, went into the computer field, got a zillion techie certs - which has more direct, measurable impact to my $$ than did my degree, worked on COOL projects , got my second degree, did more cool work, Decided I wanted to shift from tech to management, got my MBA, made a bit more money, but honestly, My microsoft, cisco, and vmare certs increased my pay more, in the short term -- then changed jobs, and that's when the MBA factor kicked in ...
