Well....they had their chance to negotiate.....

If they weren't making an atomic weapon before, they have reason to do it now.
They will observe that the USA has not done this sort of thing with North Korea.
If someone agrees to sell them one, will they test it? How and where?

Trump said two weeks to a decision, made his move in two days.
There is no reason to trust diplomacy any further with this president.

To be fair, VP Chaney lobbied hard to bomb N. Korea toward the end of Bush’s second term. Rice argued hard against it. Three things prevented it. One, VP Chaney has lost a lot of internal prestige as the Middle East wars came unglued. Two, we had entered a domestic economic crisis. Three politics and the people were done with military intervention. President Obama, then Senator, was gearing up to run telling any and all how Iraq was wrong from a policy and geopolitical standpoint.


Thus, President Bush did not bomb N. Korea. Had the Middle East not come unglued or the economy melt down. VP Chaney probably wins the argument.

Again, to be fair, President Trump said he would let international talks happen. The problem is Iran publicly stated they would not enter any such talks. Now, should President Trump had taken his position. That is an open ended question subject to one point of view. That is secondary to the fact the delay was to allow international diplomacy that Iran refused to engage in publicly. President Trump’s position was I’ll wait and let the talks play out. Iran said we ain’t got nothing to talk about. That is on them. It is not in President Trump they refused.

Whether President Trump should have taken such an aggressive position with Iran is an open question.

The fact is Iran refused to engage in international diplomacy when President Trump said he would not take action until after that diplomacy. Iran then refused to engage in diplomacy after making President Trump made US Policy (yes, it is his policy to make) clear rest upon Iran’s head. When a YA President demands your surrender, the destruction of your nuclear capability, and says he will not take action until diplomatic talks are held, only for that Regime to refuse diplomacy, the Regime cannot object to the time table. They can, but it should fall on death ears.

Iran wanted to keep its nuclear program and state sponsored terrorism. I do not know if this is the best way to address it, but they got what they asked for.


The mid and later years of the Iraq War was a war with Iran.

But trump said he could stop wars because all he had to do was make phone calls & order everyone to the table. Like Putin & Zelensky. This is just a repeat of trump's over inflated bravado.

We should have done for Iran what we are half hearted in doing for Ukraine years ago. Give the better short the guns, money, and infrastructure support after to overthrow the Regime.

Merced was being sarcastic and juxtaposing the idea of quick wars using Iraq to the current Iran situation with President Trump declaring, “ Now is the time for peace.”

A) It does not work that way

And

B) At best, a long term military engagement must, requiring approval of both Chambers of Congress. Personally, I am done and long over with anything short of a true delegation of war. Afghanistan and Iraq were joint resolutions authorizing President action. Nope, do it or don’t do it.
