I have seen nothing about the plant shutting down. No auto workers involved is what I read. Subcontractors, and subcontractors of the subcontractors, only.

I found it most strange, living not even an hour away from the Hyundai plant in question, that you folks have all kind of huge policy issues about what occurred. The real issue was that American workers were promised the jobs the plant would create. The State of Georgia made multiple concessions in taxes, built huge investments in infrastructure and funded training at trade schools for the expected new employees. The contractors and subcontractors that Hyundai brought to the site were illegal and their management team had to know that. They agreed in the funding documents that they would adhere to Federal and Georgia laws. They did not and claiming “It’s the sub’s fault” is no effective legal excuse. Remember the plant was started long before Trump took off in January. What exactly did Hyundai expect? Hyundai has had months to fix the problem but had chosen not to do so. I think the real question is: Why did they believe that they would get away with it? Did some money change hands? Does the Davis Bacon Act apply? No. It was the EV battery plant that’s a joint venture of Hyundai and LG. JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

nope, well, not really - they stopped construction while the raid was in progress - AND the illegals are being flown home - this is a feel good story - laws and contracts brought back into compliance - and americans to be hired for high paying jobs - only the mentally challenged have a problem with laws being obeyed opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? The auto plant has been producing cars since February of 2024. It is an EV battery plant where the warrants were served.

1 not an auto plant, its a battery plant 2 "shut down" has broad meaning. Active construction was stopped during "raid" for the safety of all concerned, and restarted. 2a you know what else shuts down a construction site? Weather 3 "dye prices" was followed for visa and work permit violations 4 only "the faction" would complain about following the law as written opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? The real issue is why weren't those management folks at Hyundai cuffed up and taken to jail? Why won't Hyundai and any other contractor or subcontractor with responsibility be appropriately charged and fined? It's that same old story. The folks that do the work get arrested and deported. The folks that hire them to do the work at a reduced labor cost get rich and skate. I've posted it here a dozen times.....if you want to stop illegal immigration, hold the folks that hire them accountable. No jobs, no illegal immigration.

Maybe this is why they thought they could get away with it? The odds... JudgeG? Link to article: https://www.legaldive.com/news...utman-Pepper/736562/ Criminal prosecution possible for employing illegal workers but enforcement is lax Published Jan. 6, 2025 Robert Freedman Lead Editor * Snippet: * ..."Since 1986, when Congress gave ICE its criminal prosecution authority, under 8 USC 1324a, no more than 25 people, and almost no companies, have been prosecuted in a single year. “Not only are few employers prosecuted, fewer who are convicted receive sentences that amount to more than token punishment,” the TRAC report says. “Prison sentences are rare.” Of the 11 individuals that were convicted in the 2018-19 snapshot, only three were sentenced to serve prison time, according to the data. Criminal prosecutions for employing people illegally peaked in 2009, when Barack Obama was president. In that year, prosecutions reached a high of 25. To the extent ICE does go after an individual or a company for a criminal violation, it looks for willfulness. “ICE is more likely to issue criminal penalties for a finding of knowingly hiring or continuing to employ unauthorized noncitizens,” say Robert Lee and Yane Park McKenzie in a blog post. Lee is a partner and McKenzie an associate at Troutman Pepper Locke. Their post isn’t in connection with the TRAC report. Penalties can be as high as $2,789 for each I-9 with substantive violations and $27,894 for knowingly hiring or continuing to employ workers without authorization, according to a Department of Justice rule. If sentenced to prison, terms can be for up to six months, the Troutman attorneys say." .
