The House has no role if we are treating this as a non-proved and non-ratified treaty. Assuming it was a treaty approved by the Senate and ratified, Congress could then pass a statute from it. In that manner the House would play a role, but not mandatory. | |||

Jtex will probably agree that I've said for years that the US has voluntarily borne an oversized commitment to international security or politics. That is long overdue to end or be modified. The way trump is going about it may not be prudent, but then again perhaps the other parties that have been laying back and letting Uncle Same do the heavy lifting should have taken on more responsibility for the load decades ago. Everyone knew it wouldn't last. Rome didn't last, Spain didn't last nor did Macedonia, Greece, Persia, Britain, Germany, Scandanavia,...... Time to grow up kids. If Scandanavia unified it could conquer Vlad in a month. Build your own rifles and tanks, build your own jets. Strap your own helmets on and tie your own combat boots. There has to be a part of you that feels really stupid looking thousands of miles to the west for help with an enemy scant yards to your east. | |||

Scott, Sweden hasn't been part of NATO until recently. They do already build their own fighter planes, very good ones, and the global eye surveillance aircraft, and the NLAW inti tank systems, and in partnership with BAE their own artillery (Archer?), and various anti aircraft systems. Sweden whilst being neutral has a very capable military ... and they bring a lot to the NATO table. | |||

Swedish equipment is excellent. It’s the numbers that cause issues. And yes, I foresee that instead of buying US made weapons that the Europeans will buy their weapons from European countries. Yep, Trump’s attempt to separate us from Europe is going to have some negative consequences for us. Of course I agree. Europe has welched on their commitments for decades. It is beyond time for them to accept responsibility for their security and their actions! While they have been enriching russia,for their cheap,petroleum products they expect us to pay for their security???? A element got one thing right for sure "we are an ocean away".....
