Not to distract, but to hopefully make a point or two. I read an article recently about five Mexican band members were found in a grave just south of the border, in Mexico. Of course motives and whodunit (cartel?) were speculated from the most probable cause scenario. If the article had any credibility at all, we know the effect.

Then I read some of the comments/feedback below the article. Most were Mexican. Many comments were mostly shunning the whole incident, some speculating it was all made up by the media. The takeaway for me is that those people south of the border are more distrusting of info sources than we are. Many don't know what to believe beyond what they already believe and can verify first-hand.

I think the health of a nation can be deciphered by evaluating the degree of skepticism amongst the population.

Of course reasonable skepticism is healthy. The question is what's reasonable? It's subjective and many factors apply, real and imagined and cumulative.

IMO, there is a line largely fomented where people become unable to sort things like truth out, when crossed is as dangerous as the lies and propaganda that fomented the condition. In such a state, nothing out there can be trusted. It's primordial.
