This should never have happened but was entirely and sadly predictable.

I’m sick of people who disagree on policy demonizing each other.

Just because a person promotes a stupid policy does not make him or her a bad person.

Stupidity does not equal evil.

We have elections to fix stupid.

There are apparently witnesses who saw the "sniper" preparing to take the shot. They claim that yelling and pointing him out to the cops had no effect. I doubt this is the same story the SS will tell.
The location was roughly 150 yards from Trump; a pretty easy shot for anyone with any ability. This guy had little in the ability department, unless he wasn't aiming at Trump, or unless he was being fired upon. The story that Trump was hit by a piece of plastic is unconfirmed but certainly possible, given his statement. Bill

My condolences and prayers for those wounded and killed in todays despicable attempt to assassinate Donald J Trump. Former President Trump reacted in a strong leader, defiant fashion. God bless this country and God bless the next president of the United States Donald J Trump. He has my vote.

So American!

Corruption normally leads to this!

Anyone wants to bet some will blame the GUN?

Some foreign media already doing it.

Non stop “campaigning”

Non stop begging for bribes.

Non stop championing single agendas.

Non stop lying.

Mugabe had several attempts at his life too, so why is America different to Zimbabwe??

They have one thing in common in their political system.

UNMITIGATED CORRUPTION!

The Anti-Trump Club has cooked its goose with a move that will secure Trump with an outright victory at the polls, winning the states and giving the Electoral College something to think about in making their decision.

Biden's "putting Trump in the bull's eye" was clearly meant in a figurative way but for the fanatics taken as words from the Gospel which is wrong though will end up (already have) as a political tool nevertheless.

This supposed assassin is no different to those knocking at the White House wall with a gun.

Anyone knows what gun he was using?

Missing at 150 yards?

Oswald comes to mind!

I doubt this, just as I doubt that it was any sort of left wing conspiracy. The guy was a freakin' loser who couldn't shoot. A 20 year old whack job. People do some pretty stupid things but neither side would choose that clown as part of any sort of plot.
The result of this is to make Trump's followers worship him even more. His detractors will still look at him with disgust. The difference may be that some of the fence-sitters may move Trump's way. There will be a great deal of effort being made to spin this. Bill.

Teleprompter fragments my ass.

Either the shooter was nervous and pulled the shot or the target moved fractionally in that split second and the bullet grazed his ear.

From the video it looks like a bad shot, luckily.

Trump’s head wasn’t moving much.

The shooter was probably a TROPHY hunter.

Who COLLECTS his trophies on a farm.

Probably sitting at a waterhole.

Reports suggest distance was 130-150 yards.

Poor judgment by security involved.
Wath the old Reagan footage. While Hinkley comes into the picture, the SS agents were looking at the president. The charge is not the threat, the surroundings are.
G W Bush and the president of Georgia had a live grenade thrown on stage with them. The handkerchief it was wrapped in caught and prevented it from going off.
With this incident people saw the shooter and reported it, nothing was done.
Mistakes are made, hopefully learned from each time.
Even Obo was guilty of poor word choice that could be taken as violent.
His, " get out and punish your enemies" was not a good look.

Paul Pelosi was attacked by one your brethren. It turned to be one of the most bizarre occurrences I have ever read about. I still can’t wrap my head around the event or its aftermath.

There is no equivalence with the Trump assassination attempt.

The J6 riot was a group of unarmed idiots that…

…acted like idiots. No equivalence there either.

The attempt on Steve Scalise’s life was similar.

And the tailgate wraps with a picture of Biden bound and gagged, and the plot to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer?

Republicans in general and MAGAts in particular have been advocating and encouraging and committing "political violence", they just don't like being on the receiving end.

And I've never heard a Democrat suggest political differences could be handled by "second amendment people".

But I heard Trump say just that.

I despise Trump but I'm glad he wasn't seriously hurt. If the jackass could shoot Trump would be a martyr and somebody, almost certainly smarter, would take over the MAGA movement. As it is we can all take Trump's advice from the Iowa school shooting some time back: We just have to get over it.

The idea that Trump was hit by something other than a bullet, probably comes from the statement by the man himself. He said he heard a whizzing sound just before he was struck. Super-sonic bullets don't make a whizzing sound. I think it is highly unlikely that the gunman is part of any real conspiracy because he was such a useless specimen, nobody would have entrusted any sort of role to him.
I like to have all the information I can. So far, there is precious little. The longer it goes on, the less likely it is that the info will be real and not spun.
So far, we have info that the shooter did indeed fire at the stage, most likely intending to hit Trump himself. We know that one person was killed in the stands, and couple more injured. We know the shooter was killed. I have not heard yet just what type of rifle was in the shooter's possession, nor the type of ammunition. Plainly, this was known within minutes but is being withheld.
I am sure there are victims of professional assassins which take place, but I can't recall when any high profile person was a victim of such an attack. The possible exception might have been Lee Harvey Oswald but that seems unlikely as well. Regards, Bill.

His fist-raised salute of defiance is surely enough to win him re-election to the White House. Especially if the American people have to choose between a doddering incumbent and the man who got to his feet seconds after an assassination attempt and punched the air with blood trickling down his face.

A campaign poster to be reckoned with. If Trump is holed up without a speechwriter and doesn't mess up, he may win re-election by supper time today.

News has it that the rifle was an AR-15 sort of rig, this will play wonderfully into the Biden/Harris gun control story. Nutz...

There are far more professional assassins in the movies than there are in the real world, and the best do their job without anybody being sure a job was done.

And sure as hell no professional would take a job there was scant chance they would survive, like shooting a Secret Service protectee in broad daylight.

I don't know what this goofball was, apparently he used his Father's rifle, but he sure as hell was no professional anything.

Then you have pricks like this…it’s pretty clear there’s more than enough assholes to go around.

“Republican Georgia Congressman Mike Collins, who was recently in hot water over jokes he made about political assassination, said after the attack, "Joe Biden sent the orders."”
