How did that pertain to the question? 2020

No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.

As I recall, Jesus teaches folks to fear the devil, or his influence, at least; hell and damnation.

Fear is the operative word.

And what to do with that fear.

Come to him, as an alternative (fix) to the devil and fear and hell and damnation - forever.

How is that "bad"?

Hummm

In the context of the Bible, Jesus has no mission if not for the devil, hell and damnation.

The devil is essential, as antagonist in the narrative.

I say the same to you.

What would Christianity be without the devil?

I think Christianity would be a nothingburger if not for the antagonist of the devil.

I know from your other threads you believe evil exists.

And in actuality Jesus spends little time speaking against evil and the majority of time teaching Grace, redemption, and civility.

I use the word evil because it exists in language and expresses a specific concept. It is tied to the devil.

I think there are bad people, of their own making and responsibility.

"Little time" is not the point. In the context of time, bad isn't measured that way. The whole undercurrent of his teachings is redemption - from what?

Sin? Rooted in humanity or the devil?

Grace is God's domain.

Civility is humanities' domain.

The willingness, the want, the desire to do bad when it is just as easy to only do good —— The “indulgence” in evil or just badness for that matter.

God started humanity in perfection and humanity messed it.

Redemption from the wanton desire to be bad and forgiveness for doing it.

Sin? Rooted in humanity or the devil?

Quit creating a mountain out of a mole hill for yourself. You like the term “reality.” In reality…what difference does it make?

Grace is God's domain.

Exactly!

Civility is humanities' domain.

Humanity are God’s children. He is the Father. Children learn from instruction. Civility is not an inherent trait…it is a learned one. Humanity (God’s children) learns civility through His teaching, directly in the beginning and indirectly (sort of) later via Jesus. Civility is not the domain of humanity…it is a proclivity taught to them by their Father.

BTW, you are the ultimate fear peddler…see your own thread for proof. Wink

Even monkeys have their form of civility within their group.

The Founders authored a form of civility. It's called the secular constitution.

I'm not peddling fear. I'm calling out the reasons to be concerned.

What did Jesus teach people to do?

First and foremost he taught people how to cherish the Savior Syndrome, how to rely on it, how to make a ghost a savior through thought, belief, intangible, vapor.

DJT exploits the savior syndrome. "I alone can fix this". Sound familiar?

Patriots should fear people like Steve Bannon, Michael Flynn specifically because of their message and messaging means, and because they co-opt and weaponize one of the most powerful things. (for lack of a better word)

They co-opt Christianity and Jesus specifically.

It's large scale. They are just examples. It ranges all the way from conservative think tanks like Heritage Foundation to most churches - the congregations and their preachers, to the conservative legislatures state and federal.

So, you want the distinction between "fear" and "concern"?

I've stated reason to fear above.

Here is reason for concern:

Well, I'll be the first to admit that I don't know all the Truth, the whole Truth or nothing but the Truth.

I know just enough, on some topics, to argue about it. Wink

I especially like to argue with those who think they KNOW, and most especially with those who rely on belief as any foundation for stuff they KNOW..

Some things I know. Ie: I know how to load a rifle cartridge.

Somethings I don't know. If it interest me…I try to learn. I am a fairly good hand at the the learning thing.

The rest…I mostly don’t worry about.
