How was that black hefe geedubya? Looks like a glass of flat coke.

I'm a huge fan of hefes but I don't get the current craze of making a "black" version of every style.....and I'm not even a KKK member. Big Grin

Tuescher Sieken (sp?) from the Furth region of Deutschland...

German "flippies" of course.

It does flabbergast me every now and then when a non-practioner feels the need to badmouth people who choose to enjoy a cold one.

Interesting to note, as an aside, that morning when a teetotaler wakes up that is as good as their day gets. Me, a good Nicaraguan Maduro and a bottle of a friends's excellent dark homebrew keeps me going somedays...

Looking good there GE.

Well it will soon be that time of year again.

As a primer, I've the opportunity to do a spot and stalk bear hunt starting a week from yesterday.

I always make jerky to take along. This trip will be no exception.

Picked up a 6.5 lb. beef tenderloin this AM.

Luv using a sharp knife. Sure makes silver-skin removal easy.

Slice into 1/4" thick strips.

15 minutes later and I'm done.

Now for the soak!!!

I combine the Stubbs Sweet Heat, a bottle of Negra Modelo, garlic powder, pepper, chile's N chili powder, and make two, 3 lb. batches, and soak each for 12 hours or so.

In the AM it will be ready for the seasoning and cure.

Best,

GWB

I smoked some ribs for the family over the weekend. While doing so, I had a few "bulk beers" - Bud Light to keep my hydrated. It was hot, so I kept them chilled in my custom-pained Yeti Colster.

When it came time to enjoy the ribs, out came a little Alien.

On a family vacation to Mount Rushmore, I enjoyed a cold American-made Bud with a messy bison/mushroom burger.

I like amber ales in general, and this one I found pretty decent; perhaps a bit "flat" tasting though. And yes, he was contained. Smiler
