For those of us that like beer, it is important to remember that beer is full of carbs and calories. Because of that we need to exercise. Below I am working on staying "buffed".

Once I feel I am about as buff as I need to be, I like to re-hydrate.

Deschutes Brewery Obsidian Stout and a Small Drop Point Hunter. In the shop I like to use Vise Grips as a bottle opener!

Both were made by a fellow out of Oklahoma, by the name of Rick Menefee.

I think I've close to 30 of his blades now.

All I can add to this is "Lone Star beer, and Bob Wills music..." they kept my heart alive when my divorce was final for about six months...

Rich

these days, a good Porter, Cuban Cigars, and that same old music still work.

Even this time of year, here on the gulf coast of Texas the heat and humidity can make a fella' feel kinda prickly.

But thanks to that little brewery up in Shiner Texas.............

Nicely composed photo sir. I'm not the most ardent fan of Shiner Prickly Pear, but have been known to enjoy one on a hot summer afternoon when it's available in this area. And that knife - true artwork there. Very nice.

Geedubya and Goldeneye

Plates, platters and glasses with meals fit for a king!

For those that chose not to partake, that ione's choice, but I would love to try at least a bit of every craft brew out there.

The rest of the big brews are as they say,

"Like passions shared in the bottom of a canoe,

Close to water"

Though there are some light refreshing brews I like to refer to as "Lawnmowing beer".

I don know what "elan" and "joie" might pertain to but it sure looks like good eats.
I was a participant in a " low country boil" in Alabama this past week. They put stuff in that pot that you had to wonder about. But; it was tasty!

Thanks much, GWB! I'm glad my parents raised me to appreciate good food and drink and have a girlfriend who is on the same page too. Plates like that smoked pheasant and turkey, and my grilled venison tenderloin and rabbit with morels, etc, are how I keep her convinced all my hunting trips are worthwhile!

That Stone Smoked Porter is fantastic. Lee Baumgart I really like the Deschutes Obsidian and Black Butte Porter too- a couple of my favorites. Good stuff!

This Steel Toe Dissent beer is brewed in a Twin Cities suburb about a half hour from me and was love at first gulp when we toured their brewery. The mug was a gift from my girlfriend a few years ago... I knew she was a good one then.

GE,

I could hang with you, just for the left-overs.

Dyno-mite!

So the "beginnings" of "back at ya".

There is a tropical depression out in the Gulf of Mexico and a ton of rain and high wind is predicted.

I decided to stay at the house and mess around.

I'm gonna grill these boneless chicken thighs and country style ribs.

After the ribs are cooked on the grill, I'll put them in the crockpot to slow cook in a sauce for 4 hours or until fall-off the bone tender.

Meanwhile, a Shiner Black and a Rocky Patel Toro Maduro will set the mood on this rainy afternoon.
