Northern Sitatunga Mount
This was taken this past September in the Kigosi. The hunt report is here: Sitatunga

The longest horn is 28 2/8. It ranks number 9 SCI and curiously enough, the pending new number one for Rowland Ward. I say curiously enough because the current number one is 27 3/8 but the RW on-line book show many more that are longer. Apparently RW changed the way they score things years back?

Dennis, congratulations. That's a very well done mount, too. Were you closer to Palm Camp or to the one on the Kigosi river (?Sable-camp) when you got him?

Hi Steve. Yes, I stayed in Sable camp and this fellow was found a couple hours away from there to the south.

I forgot to mention that the taxidermy was done by Rick Leach Taxidermy in Portland, Oregon. This is the first time I've used Rick and he is also doing shoulder mounts of a Hyaena and a Sable and doing European mounts of 2 buff, a hartebeast, a Topi, and a Bohor Reedbuck.

Very cool. That's a trophy that few people will ever obtain.

Thanks for sharing,
Kyler

Wonderful! The sitatunga is one of my favorite African animals. You have a very nice one and the mount is very beautiful.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
