I find the level at which these people are disconnected from the realities of the natural world they claim to be protecting disturbing.

I also think it's extremely silly to call a man who hunts a murderer, and then act like the wolf, which also hunts, is a cuddly little fella who didn't deserve such treatment.

Congratulations, Jay, on your hunt and outstanding trophy.

Sad to say, we do have to take wackos seriously, especially when they make specific threats. They have strong, even obsessive, views. I agree they are disconnected from reality.

If it were up to me, I'd remove lots more of those wolves, which are destroying the natural order in MT and WY, plus moving to adjoining States. My grandparents had to cope with them on the old days and were glad they were gone.

Best thing ever.....

My friends and I were in our early 20's. Some still in college, some just out in their 1st or 2nd year of working.

We are at a bar and a girl comes over to talk to us. She starts talking to my friend Karel, who happened to be working at a NASA subcontractor as an engineer doing work on telemetry equipment.

Now, Karel is a real smart ass and he doesn't like stupid people.

The conversation went like this:

Girl: "What do you do?"

Karel: "I work at NASA. What do you do?"

Girl: "I'm an animal rights activist. What do you do at NASA?"

Karel: "I break monkeys' legs and send them into space."

Girl storms off.

Jay, I would just add that judges do have to take such threats seriously. Way, way back when I was a boy in Ohio, we lived a few doors down from the local Federal District Judge. Often when a big criminal case, like counterfeiting or the mob, was involved, we would have a couple of FBI guys parked down the street. And we all know about Judge John H. Wood, Jr. in TX who was murdered by Woody Harrelson's father.

Sad and misguided, but very dangerous individuals that have chosen this nonsense to give meaning to their empty lives.

They remain uninterested in objective discussion....thus they are nothing more than terrorists that cannot be reasoned with. I despise them.

JCS271....is there any recourse for publicly posting a judge's private address and phone number?

Unfortunately no.

I guess the irony of all this is that I totally support wolf preservation.

And to prove it, I am having mine permanently "preserved" as a rug!

I wonder if it has ever occured to any of the antis that there wouldn't be any appreciable populations of game animals if it hadn't been for the conservation efforts of sport hunters, or that we pay for the lion's share of wildlife management (through hunting license fees, the Pittmann-Robertson tax, etc)?

What few understand is that these kooks do not really care about animal populations. It is the individual animal that concerns them. It would not bother them in the least if every wild animal in the world were to vanish, as long as it was due to "natural" causes and not human hands.

Judges are not the only hunters who are subject to their threats. During the nearly 30 years I wrote a twice-a-week hook and bullet column in the Tucson Citizen, I received many anonymous letters and phone calls from animal rights zealots who wanted me dead.

The scariest threatening letter I received came from someone who enclosed photos of me, my wife and daughter, and our home in the envelope. The author said he intended to "get us" when we least expected it.

I took everything to our sheriff, who said there was no way his office could protect us if someone really wanted to kill us. I carried a pistol with me everywhere I went for a couple of months, but never needed it.

I have to disagree with that assessment. These people are not worried about any animals, they are concerned with trying to control other people. They somply use their supposed "Love" of animals as a front. They want their "Warhol 15 mMinutes" and this is the way they go about getting it.

If all hunting/fishing/ranching/pet ownership was eliminated these folks would simply move on to another cause.

Ya gotta love Idaho, its criminal offense to impede a hunter in legal pursuit of game. Our legislature fixed those a$$holes big time. Apparantly it stopped them cold

Ray:

Arizona has had a similar law for at least 20 years, but it has not kept the crazies from harassing hunters in our state.

That " Ginny " is something else! That girl has some real issues with men in general. I would love to give a copy of her reply to a psychologist and see how the diagnosis turns out. I would take my chances with a wolf in a locked room before I would do the same with her.

Funny, California has those laws and they are enforced. And they work.

Do you think that we would be able to hunt if their were no laws protecting us from the antis?

When I was in Colorado in the early 90's going to Gunsmithing school at TSJC, they did away with the spring bear hunting, because the fruit loops didn't want the cubs to grow up with out their mommy. That first summer bear attacks doubled. People need to figure out that every time you clear land to build on you are cutting the space down that wild life have to live on. And that tags are only issued because fish and game has determined that that is the number of animals that need to be harvested to keep the population under control with the space they have to live on, without wiping them out.

We have several groups of Anti-Wolf on Facebook. If any of you want to join us, send me a message. We work 24/7 to hunt and trap these vermin wolves. We are now over 100 shot by legally licensed hunters in Idaho alone. MT is doing it's share and WY will join the hunt next year. We're losing Elk, Moose, Deer, livestock and pets at an alarming rate. One ID zone is down from 23,000+ Elk to 1,600. Come see the truth if you care about western wildlife and the catastrophic disaster introduced Gray Wolves have caused in the west. And the pro-wolf crowd wants them in ALL STATES!
