JohnHuntHere is some Texas attitude... kinda surprised me
I am having on going skirmishes with a deputy director of HSUS on Facebook. She posted some pics of what they call a "canned hunt" operation from Texas. So I did a quick google search and found the ranch and sent them the following (followed by a screenshot of the pic) so they can get these pictures pulled and not be the poster child for HSUS on there canned hunting site. The ranch is Kothman Ranch
or Continental Ranch Texas.
In any event I figured I was helping them out. But they sure didn't think so.
What do you guys think?
Here is what I sent them...
I have been having a fairly active and spirited debate with a member of
HSUS that really does not like the type of hunting you guys offer. Her
name is Megan Sewell and she has copied your trophy photos and posted them
in Facebook.
Facebook has rules that prohibit the use of copyrighted materials
(copyright is owned by the photographer unless transferred). If you file a
complaint or let me do it for you then Facebook will probably pull the
photos.
I am not sure if this link will work for you but this is the Facebook board.

I'm betting that the person who opened the email thought that you were complaining about canned hunting.

My guess is they didn't read your email correctly. I suspect they thought you were attacking them and their operation.
Those kind of errors happen all the time.

L. David KeithJohn, I agree. I bet they didn't understand or take time to report it to someone with a normal sized brain. You can't enter AssBook without joining, something I'm not interested in, but bravo to you for duking it out with an imbecile. HSUS does more to harm animals than good IMHO and should be closely watched by law enforcement. You might get on some of the hunting forums that sponsor youth forums. Tell those teenagers what's going on. Those boys would give those jokers more crap than a Christmas Turkey and laugh about it. As for the canned pics from TX...you did all you could.
Cheers,
David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

JohnHuntShe isn't just anyone at HSUS she is the deputy manager for the Wildlife Abuse Campaign.
And I have her pretty spun up

I also sent the following back to the ranch. Just in case they were confused by the purpose of my original email. Not expecting much though.
BTW: Maybe you should forward my mail to a manager or the owner. Someone that might care that photo's of your customers have been stolen and are being used by HSUS illegally. I was trying to help you guys and get a rude response like below. It is unprofessional and uncalled for, and frankly confusing.

GatogordoI'm not sure where I read this, but according to that source, which I recall as reliable, only SIX PER CENT of HSUS' budget goes to what we call animal shelters. Amazing......I wonder how many of their contributors think they're giving money to help control stray dogs and cats.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.
NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.
I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

GatogordoPS: Why don't you copy and paste the emails, I'm not joining facebook to read them so I'm not sure what you're talking about?

StonecreekGato:
I'm not sure that any of HSUS's money goes to animal sheltering. The only similarity that organization has to the local groups that shelter animals is that the local groups are often called "the Humane Society" (of Yokelville, etc.) The HSUS trades on their purposfully confusing name for fundraising -- virtually all of the net of which goes to political advocacy of their particular philosophy. That's fine -- I give to groups that advocate for issues that I support -- but many people who contribute to HSUS mistakenly think they're helping shelter lost puppies. 'Taint so.

GatogordoThey do contribute some, probably for appearance and fund raising purposes, but it appears my 6% was either wrongly quoted or out of date......here's a relatively current blurb on their activities......
quote:
WASHINGTON – According to new research from the nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF), the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) contributed less than four percent of its $91.5 million budget to hands-on dog and cat shelters in 2007.

John, I am sure they misread your email. It might have been better if you had started with a comment like, "I am an avid hunter and I am appalled at the way HSUS has depicted you on Facebook."
Just s thought.

JohnHuntYeah that must be it. I pushed back, told them they were rude and suggested they show this to a manager or owner. The follow up response was much more polite.
