Well with the rumor mills going about Winchester making Model 70s once again.... and it being announced they would be made in SC...

I was surfing the web this morning, and dropped by Brownings International Site.. which contains Winchester's international site..

http://www.winchesterint.com/winchester/intro.html

you can purchase new Model 70s over there.. doesn't say if they are FN made or American made and old stock( of course they wouldn't say that)...

but the Model 70 is alive and well in Europe...

Interesting and just thought I'd pass it on..

cheers

ps note the featherweight with regular barrel sites on it...LoL..

The models appear to be "old stock". None of these models have been manufactured for two years. The picture of the Featherweight appears to be even older stock, because the last couple years even when the Featherweight was still in production, they used a black Pachmayr Decelerator pad. The "red pad" Featherweight hasn't been made in about 4 years or so. My guess is, if these rifles are actually even available, they are simply the equivalent of "close-outs" here. Notice the unusual selection of cartridges? The fact they put iron sights on some of the rifles for European commerce is irrelevant.

Yup, they look like leftovers to me, still have those WSSMs. When are they going to learn? Though, I dont think the new SC made rifles are going to chambering them.

There's no such animal as an FN made m70 receiver (if you go by direct company name) as ALL the FN patrol actions were made by their winchester sister company and sold to FN.

the featherweight appears to have more drop than than american FW Stock, and kind of looks cool, to me, with the sights

They are leftovers..

The "new" model 70 rifles I have seen in Sweden have mostly been chambered in calibers that do not sell well (i.e. 6.5x55SE and .300WSM).
