While at the range today I slipped on some ice and shattered my stock and scope. Aparently they don't hold up so well if you fall on them! I 'll post photos as soon as I can get my hands on a camera. Both of mine are with my wife, she's visiting her family. Damn what a way to end the year!!!!!!!!!!!! On the up stroke my 300 WSM is shooting quite well with the new loads.

Ouch! Umm, how far did you fall before landing? Were you ice climbing? First, glad you weren't hurt, second, that leupold is an obvious manufacturing defect, nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Naw, I'm sure they will be good on repair costs. Now, take that sawdust stock and warm yourself a nice totty and enjoy watching it burn in the fireplace. OR make a spotting scope stock out of the remnants. Order a high grade replacement and enjoy it. I remember falling on my Savage/Valmet 330 on it's first day out. Snapped the pistol grip right off the receiver. Broke my 14 year old heart. It's still epoxied together and shooting 30 years later. I think I'll call your stock the humpty dumpty stock as epoxy may be a far stretch. Was it a 550 FS? Gary Damn right its loaded, it makes a lousy club. -JW

Witnesses say I was fully off the ground and somewhat horizontal, with my heels landing first then the rifle and me on top of the rifle (actually my shoulder and elbow). It's a Brno ZKK 600 ( now called a CZ550 medium I believe). Not a full stock.

True, but the Leupold was a bitter pill to swallow! Poor little bastard never even got to see a target!

Lifetime warranty = priceless. In the past I would bet dollars to donuts they'd fix it for you for the price of postage. I am not sure if they are still as generous, but you'd be remiss not to try!! Cheers, Canuck

No worries, Just send it to them and tell them what happened. They'll fix it. At least they have done so for me in the past.

Last time I bent a tube on a leupy I got a bill for $150. Still cheaper than a new scope Said to hear about the rifle. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

366 I am truely sorry to hear of your trouble. However my Grandfather had a saying when the going got tough. He would say " Its never so bad it couldn't be worse." The scope and stock are a write off BUT they can be replaced. The important thing is you were not hurt. I have a friend who was tightening up a loose bolt on his kids swing set. Somehow he managed to fall off a break his foot and ankle in several spots. He managed to do this one week before we were schded to leave for Montana on an elk and mule deer hunt. That really sucked! His foot and ankle have never been the same

Had the stock been a McMillan ... BTW, is the barrel O.K., or will the rifle shoot around corners now?
|

The barrel is fine. I'll do some thinking on the stock replacement.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune and am glad you are O.K. with nothing but your pride aching (well maybe your backside too). I'm 100% sure that Leupold will repair or replace the scope. 2 years ago I did something reeaally stupid and broke my 3-9 vari-X II. It was my fault absolutely and I fessed up to it and sent it to them expecting to pay, they said the scope was not repairable and sent me a new one at NO CHARGE! If I was you I'd do the same thing and tell it like it was and I know they will treat you right, they are fantastic! Sorry there isn't a quick fix for the stock.
