Contrary to the other Sako 75 mentioned in this thread, my recently acquired one appears to have crossbolts!

Husky Model 146: no crossbolts.

Heym mannlicher style stock has crossbolt; custom built on Model 70 does not - though I had smith add ebony plugs for the appearance.

I am concluding from the data that CZs stocks are made of low grade wood.

I've owned 3 CZs and many Brno ZKKs and this is true of all but two, which had very dense wood with lots of beautiful figure. The others looked like pine or sapwood.

Doug, I think with CZ you get some of both. I had a CZ in 9,3x62 that had a very nice stick of Turkish Walnut that unfortunately was shaped in the old "Pig Butt" or SchweinsRucken style. Good wood bad shape. I think some of the others are Goodshape/Bad wood mode..........DJ

Have/have had several 9.3x62mm rifles. Here goes:
Mannlicher-Schoenauer M1950 - no crossbolt
Steyr-Mannlicher Model M - no crossbolt
Steyr SBS-96 synthetic stock- no crossbolt
Steyr-Mannlicher Luxus - crossbolt (for coolness??)
Custom Mauser - no crossbolt

Do not think the crossbolt makes a difference.

CZ hogback stock, two crossbolts. Nice piece of wood. I am beginning to like the hogback stock a lot...especially on my two 416 Rigbys.
