D HumbargerI am concluding from the data that CZs stocks are made of low grade wood.

I've owned 3 CZs and many Brno ZKKs and this is true of all but two, which had very dense wood with lots of beautiful figure. The others looked like pine or sapwood.

Doug, I think with CZ you get some of both. I had a CZ in 9,3x62 that had a very nice stick of Turkish Walnut that unfortunately was shaped in the old "Pig Butt" or SchweinsRucken style. Good wood bad shape. I think some of the others are Goodshape/Bad wood mode..........DJ

Mannlicher-Schoenauer M1950 - no crossbolt

Steyr SBS-96 synthetic stock- no crossbolt
Steyr-Mannlicher Luxus - crossbolt (for coolness??)

unless it's a very light weight wood stock, which we've all seen cracked on an 8x57.
