fellas, I've my first big bore....a .458 WM M98 ala J.C.Higgins 50 I gathered info here and there that some or many prefer to use AA2230 in the .458 so I bought 3 pounds and bought a box of Swift 400 A's along with 100 Remmy 405's for some practice. Plenty of 215's and Hornady brass that was on sale 3 months back or so. This barrel was picked up here at the AR as a blank and now is 24" in length. Where can I expect to start with AA2230 with either bullets? I've read reports of said powder with some serious velocity readings, makes me wonder where to start. Appreciate the help.

Try an extruded powder of the appropriate burn rate. It will product much less flash and concussion.
