A few Trophies from Masailand (Tanzania)

Bill CA few Trophies from Masailand (Tanzania)
I have been adding these to the Hunt Report as they have been completed, but as once read the report is not something that one typically goes back to, I thought I'd post them here too. They were taken in Dec 05 in Lobo/Lolkisale w/Adam Clements, have been completed as budget permits. I still have quite a few tanned capes from this trip with the taxidermist, some of which I may not mount or do a euro mount instead. The pictures were taken by the taxidermist before leaving his studio.
The Tommy was just completed, and looks stunning…this was an important mount to me as it is one of those few animals that just says "East Africa" and all that goes with it. Regards, Bill

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. SGraves155Bill, Wonderfull taxidermy! Did I miss which taxidermist you used?
18 August 2007, 01:32
Bill CThanks for the feedback. Brian, nope, no gerenuk. The next one to decide upon is the lesser kudu, which I will probably do end of the year as funds permit as either a shoulder or pedestal mount.
My taxidermist is Wes Good of Wildlife Artistry in Myerstown Penna. I like working with Wes as his studio is only ~45min away and we can review forms and talk about placement, etc (and it is fun to see what the guys are working on in the shop!), but as his business grows much of the higher-end work is coming from outside the immediate area. And of course my time-to-completion stat's have increased a bit too, but the quality of work remains excellent.

bwanamrmVery nice, Bill. Is Dick Laros still working? I remember that leopard he did for you... also very impressive.

G L KrauseBill, Wes does indeed do great work. If you went to the Harrisburg show this year, the crocodile display was from a hunt that a friend and I went on in Zambia in 2005. He had to take out part of a wall to fit it in.

G L KrauseHere is the croc mount I mentioned above. If only my wife would let me take over the Living Room, I'd get one too.

Bill CI saw picts of that croc GL but didn't go to Hrsbg this year. Made me think harder about a croc...but where to put it!
Russell, I would think Dick Laros is still going strong...he is a fine man and his shop does nice work too, but pricier and comm's were not quite as easy.
Ann - And may I say well done on your new rifle, that is a sweet looking rig!
Beautiful Bill, I especially like the buchbuck.

Michael RobinsonExcellent mounts, Bill. Your lesser kudu, IIRC, is a fine specimen. A gerenuk and fringe eared oryx would round out your East African stable!

bulldog563Beauty of a Bushbuck and stunning mount. Well Done!!
Hunting gods were smiling on you for that one. We were looking for one in Lokisale in 2006 but didn't see any. Pretty tough in that area from what I was told.

Here's a pict of my Lesser Kudu which is being delivered tomorrow. The top is glass, and the side panels from the body of the Kudu (I had him caped and tanned for a full mount).

Bill,
That is an outstanding piece. Sometimes I think the pedastals are more attractive than the full body mounts. This is just beautiful. Conrats!!
