Going to Branson over Memorial day weekend to visit the Fiance's family. Any chance a guy might slip in a day or night hunt? Not really looking for any thing fancy just a few hours of hunting. If pigs aren't possible I'll throw in a fishing pole.

Thanks!

I'd throw in the fishing pole. It would take more than a weekend, IF you could find any.

I'm not sure what this place's success rate is, but it is close to Branson.

There would be many excellent trout and Striper fishing places nearby to Branson.

Thanks for the link, I sent them an email. I'll probably slip some fishing in as well.

Forget about hog hunting near Branson unless you have at least 2 weeks to spend to find them. There are a few pigs in the area, but they are mostly nocturnal. Better off bringing a fishing pole and enjoying trout fishing in Lake Tanneycomo. Also be prepared for HUGE traffic jams in the Branson area.

Just like Tembo says....bring a pole and fish for trout. There is plenty of fishing but not much hunting for the weekender.....now however squirrel season opens that weekend.

There used to be a full auto shooting range in the Branson area....also drive 20 or so miles North and eat at Lamberts Cafe in Ozark Mo....the home of throwed rolls. You will love catching them.

Also you should check out the Dixie Stampede and Silver Dollar City. Tourist Traps I know....sorry.

One of the best things to see in the Branson area is the Ralph Foster Museum at the College of the Ozarks. They have one of the best firearm collections I have seen. tu2

Look, if you make it to Lamberts? You just need to drive the next 15 miles or so and go to the HQ of Bass Pro Shops in Springfield! Taneycomo is great....but just go one lake over and go to Tablerock. Trout are great, but bass and crappie fishing are out of this world.

Want to thank everyone for the suggestions, but unfortunately we only had three days in Branson. I will enjoy the next trip back as we will be taking a few more days to spend there as we just couldn't get it all done in the little time we had there. I did go hunting at Wranglerup Outfitters and while I didn't see any pigs I had a great time there with the kid, I'm getting married in September and my future wife Anne has a great daughter that loves to spend time with me and we have a great time together.

We didn't see any of the sites that everyone suggested the first day was spent having breakfast with Anne's aunt and uncle and just figureing our way around Branson. Hannah spotted the Ducks so we had to take a ride on one of thoes old amphibious Army 2-1/2 tons out onto Table Rock Lake. After the Duck tour was over we then prepared for our pig hunt down to Alpena AR. We got back shortly after midnight as Hannah's imagination got the best of her after 5 hours in a tree stand and all the night noises she was sure a bear was climbing up to get her. When she couldn't stand it anymore we went home but "it was time well wasted" to quote a line from Brad Paisley song.

The next day we did a little canoe trip on a private pond in Stone Bridge where Anne's aunt and uncle live. Here they are getting ready to paddle across the pond. Hannah really didn't enjoy the canoe a whole lot to begin with but she figured out that she wouldn't fall out after a while.

We then went fishing on a stocked pond on the property that afternoon. I still can't get Hannah to take her own fish off the hook and she will not hold a catfish yet. Here is the catfish she caught on her little Scooby Doo pole I had to hold it up for the picure.

Here is about as close as she wanted to get to a large mouth she caught as well.

The next day after church with Aunt Teenie and Uncle Charlie, I had arranged for a guided trout fishing trip under Table Rock dam. Hannah really enjoyed this trip and caught the most fish of anyone, Mom and I were too busy watching her to catch many fish. Plus she enjoyed this boat trip upriver far more than she ever enjoyed the canoe.

Plus, she landed the biggest fish of the day a 19.75" 4lb rainbow, she really wanted a 20" fish so she could keep it. Didn't matter though it was a great day and I'm sure her memories would last longer than any fish she could bring home to eat!

We just didn't have enough time to do all the things that we wanted to do.

Hey looks like a great trip, that picture of Hannah on the boat ride is priceless!
I can only imagine the conversations you and her had while waiting in the tree stand for midnight to come. I'll bet there was lots of questions about "what was that?" and "can Bears climb trees?"
Cool trip I'll bet you had fun.
I think we'll have to ply Graybird with beer and liquor to cinch an OK hog hunt one of these days.
Great pictures, even better memories.
