Sorry I know this is not the place to ask but what site are y'all using to post pics? Photobucket wants money, I don't feel like giving them any.

TANSTAAFL

I am constantly amzazed at folks that expect to reap/experience the benefits of a product or servive at no cost to themselves. Somebody's got to pay. I expect to get paid for my work product. I have no problem paying others for theirs. A business can't stay in business long if it does not make a profit. If it's philanthropy then that's a different case.

I've probably got 20,000 "different" images posted over the last 17 years. I've had a paid subscription to Photobucket since day one. I've not experienced any outages and I'm paying $99 per year for something like the ability to store and post to 3rd party sites of 400,000 images.

IMHO, that is a bargain!

ya!

Don't know about $99/year. Looks to me like Photobucket wants $399/year.

An easy and FREE site (at least for now) can be found at postimages.org. But Photobucket started out free, too. I don't know what the limit on storage is.

Once you upload some photos to postimages.org, hit the share icon and use the "hotlink for forums" button and paste in your post.

Thanks CJFoster and SteveGraves I will try those.

Geeduyba I don't disagree, but if I can get it for free I will. Just the way I am.

I mentioned before, I don't do "free". I expect to pay for a service. If I don't pay my freight then someone else has to. IIRC I renewed my Photobucket subscription last month. Paid $99.

This last weekend was the weekend from hell. Among everything else that went wrong (including only hunting 15 minutes in 4 days), I did not recover one of the largest hoglets I've ever shot. Bummer!

PS: Consequently, only historical hoglet perforation photos!

Geedubya, you may be getting a special deal for being a long term paying customer, but those of us who used the free service must now pay $399, which I have paid, but I will not renew as long as I can find a more reasonable or free service.

There are eBay users who post thousands of pictures/year, and those folks should expect to pay. Those of us who have uploaded 50 or so pictures per year don't need to be stuck with a $400/yr price tag. Of course, all our image posts here on AR over the past 20 years or so using Photobucket are now invisible unless we pay. They sucked us in, then sprung the trap. There are ways of making money with data storage-sharing without gouging the heck out of folks who upload a few pictures per year.

I'm not sure when the last time you checked, but I did not log in, rather typed in "photobucket.com" in my browser. Plans ranged from +/- $4 per month to $10.33 per month, annualized!

As I was already paying $99 per year, for me it was a no-brainer.

I had just googled Photobucket costs a few minutes ago and the first page was all about the $399/yr

When I logged into Photobucket and checked "Plans", the only unlimited 3rd party hosting is still $399/yr.

There is a reality not mentioned.
That for many folks, posting only one or just a few pictures per year doesn't justify purchasing access to a storage web site such as PhotoBucket.

Larry,

I went back and re-read your original post.

I tell folks I'm not a big man, but big enough to admit when I'm wrong/mistaken.

I do believe I owe you an apology for the tack I took.

My words were harsh and were not constructive. My bad.

I apologize.

Best,

GWB

Adobe photo elements to reduce the size and Tiny Pictures.com to up load em. If you don't make a log on to Tiny Pictures they only last a little while

I never thought anything amiss no apology necessary. Be glad to share a Shinner with you someday.

Photobucket has restored all of the old and broken links.

This is the site I now use.

Like Bobby and others, I replaced my imgur with postimages. Once you sign in, it's easy as pie. Takes less than 30 seconds to load a picture from your computer and another 30 seconds to add a picture to your post. The only trouble I had was when I forgot to sign in. Clean, fast and slick.

Here's a slow test picture from my computers picture files..............test took 48 seconds. Had trouble finding the link in my FAVORITES.

It's even faster if you reduce the size of the upload to 640 x 480 by selecting that option on postimages just before hitting the upload button.

Try Imgur.com I found it much easier to use than Photobucket. I'm far from a computer geek and if I can figure it out anyone can. I still need to ask my kids for help with my smartphone.
